Dear Landon, Eight years ago today, you transformed me from a woman to a mother. you came into my world, and you changed me completely. We’re bounded by a magical tie that only exists between us. You’re my first and only baby, and you’ll always be. Because of that, you and your needs are always at the top of my priorities. Whatever I do, wherever I am, and no matter what decision I made, I think of you. ... I’ve noticed you growing up a little bit more lately.You're now scrolling through TikTok on the toilet, closing and locking the door asking for some privacy. Playing online fortnite with friends, receiving phone calls and facetiming girls. I knew it would happen eventually, though you told me last night you will always be my ‘baby’, I can see the baby slipping away by the day, being replaced by a boy with a heart and mind of his own. You’re kind and considerate. You’re generous with your time and patient with everyone around you. Your unconditional love for your sister is so admirable. You’re funny, smart, goofy and sweet. You’re obedient and listen to instructions well. These are all the traits I wish for you as you grow up. Being with you at every step of your growth is the happiest thing that has ever happened to me. Many times you'd pick up my heart after it had fallen on the floor. I set out to be your cheerleader, but you turned out to be mine. You reminded me when I was overwhelmed You have super powers mama And you were right. You believe in me the way I believe in you. You are full of hope and it replenishes my sense of optimism that has been jaded by what 2020 had thrown at me. Thanks you for being my motivation. I can’t believe it’s been 8 years. Whenever I think I’ve got this motherhood thing figured out, you find some new way to remind me how much more there is to learn. I taught you how to walk, but you taught my heart to fly.
