Spending Sunday bringing visions and goals into fruition. It’s #AriesSeason after all ... so I’m riding the wave. Spending more and more time in both my studios as beauty clients and sewing students are supporting my growth big time (thank you!)... so making sure it’s a workspace that feels like home so that when I’m here it doesn’t feel like work!

Alright, I don’t know what was happening with my lip liner in this video ... but I remember this night the video was made. It was still early on in the pandemic ... and I was bored AF at home for the kajillionth day in a row. So I did what every makeup artist doesn’t have time for : doing makeup for themselves. Lol. . I’ve been wearing eyeliner and a touch of shadows a bit more lately. Nothing as layered as this look ... but a smudge here and a wash there. . Sometimes I lov...e myself with shadow, and other times I think it makes me look old(er). Now that I have bangs, I’ve stopped focusing on the brows. And I’ve been using a serum for my lashes. You know, your day can begin with a total vibe killer. It could be the news, running out of your favourite tea first thing in the morning, a correspondence/communication to you that screams negativity, pettiness, or doesn’t need to be said at all. But if you take a beat, and let that moment pass then the moments following that bad start, can bring you so much joy, or be a reminder of why you do what you do, or just make you super happy. At this moment, I am super happy. I’m ...here at my studio, about to be productive, while welcoming in two co-op students. One for @loweandsimone and the other for @blushprettyteam. I think I feel connected to this initiative because when I was kid ... I had no idea what I wanted to be. And when I was working in the downtown core, I wasn’t sure I wanted to be there. And when I started my small businesses, I didn’t know what the f*ck I was doing. But I’m here now, and I can help other kids, teens, adults not feel any of those things. Anyway, I did have a negative start to my morning, but this afternoon, it’s turning all around! So, don’t sweat the small stuff guys! You do you and do it up!

I spent three hours learning to bead, knot and understand the intention and meaning behind Malas. Best Saturday I spent out in awhile. . . It’s a vibe ... I was leaving the Whitby studio this afternoon and about to walk down the stairs and this caught my eye. Reminds me that despite the pandemic and how unmotivating it all can be, I have and always will have the bigger picture in mind ...

Some of my favourite things are in this #photo right now : my #studio, great #students, and a new #business #book. . . Most business books say the same things but I always learn something new. And I haven’t felt this renewed and refreshed in my business spirit in a long time, so for me this pandemic has been a blessing. Why not take advantage and learn everything I possibly can!

What’s a girl to do while she waits for the car to defrost and warm up? She reads ... because it’s easier than taking out the scraper. Lol. . . We used to have a home filled with books. Then I adopted the Kindle and we minimalized our home by purging it of books and keeping only the stories we truly loved. .... . However, I like to read a YA novel every now and then ... and I realized, that most likely (see what I did there?), if I have books laying and stacked around the house, the more my kids might be inclined to pick up a book and read well into their teen years and beyond. So, while they see me reading my Kindle, they can’t see the titles or be taken in by a cover at a moments glance. So I’ve decided to purchase physical copies of any interesting YA novels I come across to read to signal that reading can be a great escape ... See more

I’m not sure if I just #stress differently, but I’ll be honest, I have taken the past 7 months with a grain of salt - all in stride - and just went at it day by day. . . Between hardcore #lockdown and #quarantine, phase 2, phase 3 and back to modified phase 2 ... I chose #mentally to not let it get to me. .... . I don’t follow daily #COVID reports. I don’t track numbers of cases. I don’t keep my TV locked on CP24 or CNN or news of any kind. I don’t shame non-mask wearers, and I don’t nag anyone to wear their mask. I worry about me and mine ... my #family, my #businesses, and my #home front. . . And that’s not to say I don’t care or I don’t believe or that I have theories about anything that is going on in the world. I choose to wear my #masks, I choose to wash my hands, I choose to make sure my business and practices keep people safe and healthy. I choose to be a #kind, #polite and #courteous human regardless what side of the COVID debate you are on. . . I do what I need to do to keep my #peace. To keep my #emotions and #brain sane, #safe, and #healthy. I don’t need to worry about anything else. . .
