Because of the generosity of our amazing students and their families, we have filled 4 family fridges, with $1200 donated to the Ottawa Food Bank! We have already far surpassed our goal of filling at least 2 family fridges (raise $500 as a school or 168 pounds of food), and look forward to keeping this momentum going!

Today’s #campusspotlight is on Blyth Academy Ottawa teacher, Graham Howard. He’s providing a teacher’s perspective of what it is like to teach in a school with ...small class sizes and how it creates a tight knit community where each student receives individualized attention and the opportunity to challenge their abilities. #ottawaprivateschool #ottawa #privateschool #funfactfriday #shapingtheworld #globeducate See more
Blyth Academy Ottawa has a long-standing relationship with the Ottawa 67's OHL junior hockey team as the preferred high school for their student-athletes. The c...ampus offers high level academics to high performing athletes with flexible schedules and individualized learning. The academic structure allows students to concentrate on both training and academics during the week, making them both top priority. When the school makes the move to its brand new campus facility in The Glebe next Spring, it will provide close access to the team’s stadium, TD Place Arena. Thanks to the players for sharing their experiences as students at Blyth Academy Ottawa! #Ottawa67s #ottawaprivateschool #ottawa #privateschool #TBT #studentathlete #OHL #theglebe #shapingtheworld #globeducate See more
Blyth Academy Ottawa science teacher, Pavel Boudreau, is sharing how the campus’ connection to the community plays a vital role in student academics. While lear...ning in a classroom setting is important, the school gives equal weight to experiential learning within the community. The faculty works to enhance the student experience by partnering with exciting organizations at their doorstep. As Blyth Academy Ottawa starts to make the transition to the new Bank Street location as Blyth Academy The Glebe, there will be more new and exciting opportunities for learning. #campusspotlight #ottawaprivateschool #ottawa #privateschool #wisdomwednesday #shapingtheworld #globeducate #community #campuscommunity #theglebe See more
This week’s #campusspotlight is on Blyth Academy Ottawa and today we are shining a light on Grade 10 student, Raya B. The school’s flexible scheduling has given... her the ability to train as a National level Rhythmic Gymnast while still concentrating on achieving her academic goals. I came to Blyth Academy in November of 2017, for my Grade 7 year. I switched from a local middle school due to overwhelming amounts of homework that conflicted with my rhythmic gymnastic training schedule. I have been in competitive rhythmic gymnastics since I was eight years old. When I was 10, I started competing in the national level, training for roughly 24 hours a week and traveling to competitions over weekends frequently, during the competition season. Because of my tight schedule, it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a balance between gymnastics and school. It was then that my mom began looking for schools that could accommodate my dedication to my sport, and we found Blyth Academy Ottawa. I went for a shadow day in the Grade 7/8 class, and three weeks later became a student. Before I joined Blyth Academy, I was a B student but since transferring I have become a consistent A student, and have earned two yearly scholarships. I was partially homeschooled throughout Grades 7 and 8, spending four days a week in class for half of each day. Blyth Academy was extremely accommodating of my unique schooling schedule, and I was able to keep up my gymnastics training and competing. I am now going into my fourth year of school at Blyth Academy (Grade 10) and am very excited to keep learning and achieving. I have been able to continue being a National level Rhythmic Gymnast these last three years all thanks to Blyth Academy Ottawa. I truly believe that I would have not been able to, had I not switched schools. #studentspotlight #studentathlete #highschool #privatehighschool #privateschoolottawa #ottawa #shapingtheworld
#didyouknow that Blyth Academy Ottawa is moving to the Glebe? In Spring 2021, the campus will open its doors in Lansdowne Park and will be known as Blyth Academ...y The Glebe! The new school overlooks Bank Street, a thriving metropolitan area with weekly farmer’s market, basketball courts, skate park, restaurants, shops, and access to TD Place Arena. The campus itself will be modern with bright, open classrooms, two spacious student common areas, and state of the art science lab. The two-floor, 13 classroom facility will accommodate the growing student body of students Grades 9 to 12, and allow for a continuation of small class sizes and individualized learning. Adjacent to the Rideau Canal, students have access to the Rideau Canal skateway at eight km long, it is the longest skating rink in the world! The school is easily accessible by public transit and the central location provides a variety of experiential learning opportunities within the surrounding community. We can’t wait to welcome you to Blyth Academy The Glebe! Following guidance released from the Ministry of Education, we are pleased to share our plans for a return to campus on Monday, September 14. Our priority is to... get students back on campus with health and safety at the forefront of our plan, however, we understand that students and families may feel hesitant returning to school. Our team is prepared to work with each family to determine a solution for every student. In recent weeks, we have witnessed devastating instances of violence and harassment against members of the Black community, and we are intensely aware of the im...pact this is having on our world and in our communities. These events are felt deeply and they should be; such actions cannot be tolerated, and we cannot be silent. We recognize that this was already a difficult time for our students, their parents and our staff who are all working to finish a very unusual school year. Each member of our school communities will be feeling the impact of racism and ongoing protests and may be experiencing additional sadness, anxiety or trauma. Some may be looking for opportunities to engage in conversations which the current realities of the pandemic make more challenging. Our teachers, guidance counsellors and administrators continue to be available to their communities. Blyth Academy is committed to fostering an environment of diversity and acceptance, and we acknowledge the importance of addressing racism of any kind. We celebrate each and every member of our community, and continually look to you for input on how we can do better. We must hold one another accountable for our actions and work together to make positive change a reality. #togetherwestand
