Is it time for a change? The building in the background has been my neighborhood for over 6 years... until last week. I loved living here for a couple of reasons. ... ~My apartment is tiny, which helps keep me minimalistic ~The downtown Toronto location is close to everything Last month, I bought a new condo. I picked up the new keys and left my old apartment behind. It wasn't easy to leave. All kinds of uncomfortable emotions stirred. And, it's only an apartment. "No big deal", is what I kept thinking and saying to myself But my life was comfortable there. It was familiar. Everything was safe. Does it sound familiar? Have you ever felt anxious about a life change even though you knew that change was going to be a positive one? Is there something in your life that you'd like to change right now? Yep. That's ice cream. Many people believe that all fitness people eat super healthy, 24/7. Not at all. It's important to listen to your body and understand that cravings might be a result of an underlying emotional stressor. Allowing yourself to indulge here and there will actually help keep you healthier in the long run. When we allow ourselves to enjoy a little of what it is we really crave as part of an overall healthy diet, we can avoid feeling deprived. When was the l...ast time you indulged? #FitFortyFive Photo: @slvshua

Most of us know that there’s no secret fast track to long-term weight loss. It requires dedication and having faith in the idea each good decision and habit you create is an investment in a healthy lifestyle and a healthy weight. All of this is possible with a smart approach. Try to end the day by setting yourself up for success the next day with these simple, nighttime H A C K S that take less than 15 minutes: Keep a Food Journal - By writing down what you plan to e...at the following day, you’ve got a road map for what’s to come (or, what’s supposed to come). This can be extremely helpful for those living with a constant on-the-go lifestyle or for those who simply love structure. Prep a simple Breakfast - Rather than skipping breakfast and overeating at your next meal, there are tons of healthy options that can easily be made ahead of time even while you sleep. For example, overnight oats are a great way to prepare a large batch for breakfast. Steel-cut oats are the least-processed form. Oats are an excellent source of soluble fiber, which helps you feel more satisfied after eating and less hungry by lunchtime. Over time, greater satiety can equate to fewer calories consumed overall, helping with weight loss and maintenance. Chia pudding is another fave! Have a Snack Plan - Snacks can make or break a healthy eating plan. The night before, pre-cut fruits and vegetables, and then put them in containers or single-serve plastic bags. Plan your outfits - If you’re anything like me and like to hit the snooze button often or always feel rushed in the morning, picking clothes out for the office and a workout can be an extra hurdle. To avoid forgetting something, plan your outfits the night before. It helps to keep you motivated! Set Calendar reminders for Workouts - Your workouts are your time. Schedule them the night before. By treating workouts as important as a scheduled business meeting, you’re more likely to stick with it. If you can try to implement some of these into your routine, you just might avoid the ol’ failing-to-plan-is-planning-to-fail thing. Photo: @slvshua #FitFortyFive See more
