" , ' !" 15 years later and these words still ring true. I heard them first from a great leader I had back when I did Weight Watchers. It didn’t matter to me who had actually said it (Henry Ford), just that it meant something to me. Who here has been stuck on the hamster wheel that is diet culture?... Not sure what I mean? Let’s say you start a new diet (isogenix, keto, shakeology, calorie counting). You lose a bunch of weight in the first couple of months and you start to feel good about your progress and your body. Then you decide to take a break from this diet because you: : ' : : No matter your reason, once you stop you start putting the weight back on. Then you think Well xyz worked before. So you hop back on, lose some weight, hop back off for various reasons, then put weight back on. . , . The truth, though, xyz diet never worked for you. If it had you wouldn’t have to do it again, the results that you achieved would have lasted. What if this time you don’t jump back on the wheel? Wouldn’t it be amazing to find something out there that could help you lose the weight, factor in vacations, help you overcome hurdles of lacking motivation, help you overcome your emotional eating, help you have a better relationship with food, a better relationship with yourself, have all these results last? Whoa, that’s a lot, where could you possibly get all of that? !

*Are you TRULY Healthy? A lot of the time people equate Health to weight loss and a number on a scale. This isn’t a terrible because it is, of course, a part of being more healthy overall. It is not, however, the only or defining factor. ... It is my belief as a health coach that in order to be truly healthy, you must have a healthy BODY, a healthy MIND and a healthy SOUL. For example Let’s say you are physically active 4-5 times a week and you eat a strict clean diet . Chances are if you have been eating and working out this way for a while, then your BODY is healthy. What about your MIND and SOUL though? You eat this strict, clean diet because it is the only way you have been able to reach your goal weight. Yes you miss cookies and ice cream and pizza but you know if you eat just one of these things the guilt that you will feel will be overwhelming . Or worse you will completely fall off the wagon and put the weight back on. Again. This is an unhealthy mindset. If you are white knuckling it through your nutrition because you know if you deviate even a little you will fall apart, then you do Not have a healthy MIND. Now, because you have been eating the strict, clean diet your life has changed. You don’t go out with friends anymore, which you use to love, because the idea of going to a restaurant gives you crazy anxiety . What would you eat that wouldn’t mess everything up!? You also avoid social gathering at all costs. It’s easier to stay away then to answer questions like why aren’t you drinking? or Do you want a snack? Worst of all is that you have come to dread vacations and trips away . These used to be the highlight of the year, but now all they bring you is massive stress, fear, and guilt. You wish that you could go back to when you looked forward to time away, but the cost would be a change on the scale, and that would mean failure. This is an unhealthy SOUL. A longing for the way things used to be, a longing for more, but a fear of what feeling fulfilled will cost you in other areas of your life. So, even though you might be healthy on the outside if the inside is not in line as well then you will never be Truly Healthy or Truly Happy. This is why, as a coach, my focus is more on the MIND. I have found that if you can create a healthy MIND, then it helps make a healthy BODY easier. A healthy MIND and BODY will together help create a healthy SOUL. A healthy MIND, BODY, and SOUL will make it so you can enjoy your life to the fullest! So tell me are you TRULY HEALTHY? * here’s me living my life to the fullest as a zombie mom*

It’s the day of a big race, your first half marathon. You’ve been training for this for the last 6 months, and you wake up in the morning feeling ready to go ! Now imagine you get to the starting line, the signal goes off to begin, and because you are all amped up you take off hot. The first few kilometers you feel great, however, the more you keep going the more you realize that you can’t keep this up . You went out too fast, too hard, and there’s no... way that you can sustain it. Can you imagine doing this? No, because nobody would ever try and sprint a half marathon. So why do we try and do this with our weight loss? For most people their journey should be a marathon, yet they try to sprint to what they believe to be the finish line with quick fixes and crash diets. More often than not, they end up overwhelmed and exhausted, and give up before they ever reach the finish line. Or worse, they white knuckle and struggle their way to the finish line, then decide to take a break, put the weight back on, and have to start the process all over again. This is a guaranteed way to develop an unhealthy relationship with losing weight. I myself have been here. I have gone too hot out the gate, all in with a new eating plan. Did I lose the weight? Yes. Was I able to maintain it? No. It was too much all at once, and to be honest it just wasn’t a way I wanted to eat for the rest of my life. What I have learned is that it is ok to take your time. Set a pace that is maintainable for you, and expect that you may trip a few times. It’s ok to stop and catch your breath every now and then, as long as you keep moving forward!

When was the last time you looked in the mirror? I don't mean check your face and hair to make sure you don't look like a hot mess. I mean really LOOKED at yourself? It's probably been a while. You've been rotating the same 4-5 outfits because you know they fit and you look half put together. Avoiding mirrors is your specialty, and it's because of the person who is staring back at you. It's the person who just can't seem to keep it together. The pers...Continue reading
