Meet one of members! It is Member Monday. Introducing Kim Weldon from Shop Local GP My name is Kim Weldon, I was born in Grande Prairie and I've lived here my whole life. I'm 39 years old, happily married with two amazing daughters. ... As a consumer, I was finding it difficult to figure out who our locally owned businesses are, so that I could spend my money with the purpose to support local businesses. I've been here for nearly 40 years and I love GP. I want to do my part and help my community, and change my spending habits. After spending hours researching and making a list of locally owned businesses to support, I had the idea to create a website with a directory of all the businesses that are locally owned. Because then, shopping would be easy and supporting local would be simple! Wouldn't it be amazing if we had one centralized place where our local businesses could be easy to find, for everyone?? I added a spot for events and promotions, as well! So, we could all see who's running a sale, a social or an event....wouldn't that be great!? So, I built a website (and trust me, I am not a graphic or a web designer, so I'm learning a lot) and so here I am...building a business directory that is exclusive to only locally owned businesses in Grande Prairie and the County of Grande Prairie!
