Route 64 Repair 02.01.2021

RX7 driveshaft to Chevy slip joint conversion. Made an adapter from a 3 blank and an old worn out slip joint to make it possible to hook the RX7 driveshaft to an automatic transmission slip yoke. Why? Because I have 5 Rx7 driveshafts that bolt to the Mazda differential and no other way to mate the 4l80E to the diff. It’s one of those Should work but not sure how long type of deals A video is coming to explain exactly what’s going on if you don’t understand it

Fixed this Grade-all telehandler that broke the retract cable on full extension, took the boom right apart, re-shimmed the boom so it had proper clearance PLUS made a roller for the inner carriage that would bind against the inner boom preventing it from retracting smoothly. It was interesting to figure out what was causing the issue and how to fix it properly, or even to implement solution to a poorly designed system.

Ugh, Ok, so, I’m a pack rat, you can ask anyone, friends, family, @vanessa.klassen, and they’ll tell you, I have a lot of stuff That, stuff does come in real handy, but keeping it clean and organized is tough. So this corner has been an eyesore filled with scrap pieces of steel for well over 15 years, I know this because I find pieces I used or made from when I was 14-15 yrs old. Today I’m finally tired of it and throwing out anything bent, small, short or otherwise, not going to be used. I hope someday I can just have a rack of fresh steel and the self restraint to not-keep-every-little-piece. Sure that’ll work......

Finding new parts for obscure tractors is something we do, and this Satoh Bison was no exception. From the 60’s I believe, customer used it for years, enough to wear out the bushings and break the steering sector, we found parts and got it all back in new shape. Fun bit of a project having to machine bushings that were not available. Glad we have tooling to keep old tractors going #route64repair

AAM 11.5 axle from an 03 dodge, almost 400,000kms, maybe original gears? Maybe never had the lash reset or oil services regularly? Anyways, took the out beating apart by hand, they were very loose, spinning on the axle tube a bit, and the crown/pinion had worn down to a knife edge, made a wicked noise in 4-5-6, thought maybe it was trans related but found it creaking as I backed the truck up in 4wd, even just wanted to check the diff due to oil being black. Found a glitter factory. New gears and bearings should have it hauling again. #AAM11.5 #didthisonceonpurpose #3500dually #route64repair

Man you’d think we work on older equipment or something, with the exception of a ‘08 that is getting a DOD delete everything is close to 30 yrs old or older. 8460 Massey which is a rebranded Claas Dominator, a 2-105 White, a 430 Case Diesel, a ‘57 Chevy, a 720 Deere, and a Case 210B. God to be able to diversify in work between new and old, farm equipment and hot rods, vintage farm equipment, and so much more to list. #route64repair

Finished product of repairing this 01 GMC. Fresh rockers, cab corners and box wheel wells on both sides paint and clear coat. Once again, glad to be keeping older trucks on the road #route64repair

Route 64 Repair 26.08.2020

Just finishing this truck. Better doors, cab corners, rockers box arches, paint, clear and then rock guard. Pile of work, but brings back this 20 year old truck to pretty decent condition

Route 64 Repair 13.08.2020

Waiting on paint and then this SCLB and be put back together for one of our customer’s. 2001 with a 4.8 and floor shift 4wd. 175000 kms, can we go back in time? Other than the usual rust in the box arches , cab corners and rockers these trucks are simple and work fantastic, great to work on and make sense. Even though the new trucks are nice, I find the complexity of the electronics is unnecessary. But then again I prefer basic functionality over complex comforts.

https://youtu.be/jZc36uyByVM Haven’t put a video up in a little while, since the snow has left it’s been busy working on stuff outdoors, but made a little bit of time to at least see what was what on a project we brought home last year.

Route 64 Repair 28.06.2020

Working on this ‘00 GMC that maybe never saw a wash in its 153764 kms which took its toll on the classic bed arches, rockers, cab corners and doors. Zeus attaching parts into good metal to make this truck last it’s expected 450000kms is key in my opinion, still a decent amount of cut and fit and cut and fit and a little more cut and fit so it just just nice. #saltlife #minttruckotherwise #shesadriver

Saw @ddspeedshop post about May 7th being 57 Chevy day so I also thought I’d sneak it in. Last month or two have been busy and have not gotten back to the fuel system on the car so it sits collecting small parts until time allows #route64repair #may7th #57chevybelair #lsswap

Doing AG things in the shop, Massey FWA that we retrieved for a customer due to it being immobile, trailer and telehandler to load it up and this week, split it apart to find that the engine was not seized thankfully but the high/low clutch pack failed and seized together. #Route64Repair

Route 64 Repair 24.05.2020

From finishing engine swaps to splitting tractors to bodywork, it seems to be pretty diverse the last few weeks here #route64repair

Route 64 Repair 30.03.2020

Although most of my math was right on the snowblower I had to ask some advise on the orbit motor which prompted to going to a higher PSI pump and a faster orbit motor. Delayed the project but this should get this done and out of here. Results next week!

Route 64 Repair 22.03.2020

Engine is installed, steering is fixed to clear the pan. Onto the fuel system, see how rusty the original tank is and if we can reuse it.

Route 64 Repair 06.03.2020

There we go folks, bolted and locked in. Ready to get onto the rest of the supplementals. -Steering -Harness install -Fuel system -Exhaust... -Cooling system. Preferably in that order. Will work on the video content that I have and upload it in the week. Meanwhile if you need to catch up a bit with the small bit of content I have on youtube, here you go https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCePiQZProwshmJ3t9VVCHfg See more

Route 64 Repair 27.02.2020

We are pretty much ready to do the final install of the powertrain into our '57 Chev. Going to be bolted in by end of day!

Route 64 Repair 12.02.2020

Just a lot of little stuff on our ‘57 BelAir. Only the electrical on the front of the car works, and one of the running lights had a bad ground. Cleaning all the tin in the engine bay and painting the removable pieces. Cleaned up the heater core system of mice nests, painted and ready to install when we get a heater core. Tomorrow should be engine install and frame paint #route64repair #1957 #belair #barnfind #mousenest

Route 64 Repair 05.02.2020

Keep getting closer on the front end of the car. Need a few 2.5 silicone couplers and the pressure side of the turbo is done
