If this pandemic has taught me anything .. it’s definitely to put my phone down. This past thanksgiving weekend I did just that. I also took some time to think.. for myself. Not just this past weekend in particular but some things which I constantly remind myself now which in the past I have not. I am first off so blessed to be able to breathe in this fresh air each day the connections I encounter on a day to day basis mean more then maybe I think at the time ... happiness goes far beyond what the eyes see be grateful for all of the things... the smallest in particular move your body in a way that feels so good to YOU everyday is a celebration p.s this is my fav tree on my property

An interesting question came up the other day when I was with my girlfriend. What makes you feel powerful? Wtf. It’s one of those questions that I literally had to stop and think. Automatically my mind and I think many other peoples as well would say we naturally think about our weaknesses and maybe even our flaws. It’s sometimes tough to pinpoint what makes us feel almost unstoppable. When I feel powerful I can literally feel myself radiating from... the inside out. I don’t force these powerful moments because they do just happen. Seriously .. right now... ask yourself what makes you feel powerful It’s pretty interesting what comes up when you dig a little.

The month of August has felt like a blur. Two weeks ago I started to feel extremely sick.. like very sick.. sick to an extreme I’ve never felt before. I was told by 2 doctors that I was fine and that I’ll just have to let the virus pass. Two Wednesday’s ago my parents rushed me to emerge - finding out I have an pneumonia. Three days later after being on antibiotics, I can easily say I felt even worse. Back to emerge to find out that the infection in my left lung worsened. I... have been i the hospital since due to the fact that the meds didn’t work.. and because of this I literally could not breathe. This past little bit has not only been physically challenging, maybe even more so mentally exhausting. How in the world did this happen to me. All of the healthy things I practice on the daily and implement into my life. I don’t know. A couple of things have been put into perspective. Getting sick can happen at ANY moment. I am so fucking lucky for having the best family and friends in the world. There are far more important things to focus on rather then the silly stupid things that will really not even matter in 10 minutes. Things like walking, showering, talking, sitting up right, eating and most importantly FUCKING BREATHING are a blessing that I will never ever look past again. Thankful to have docs and nurses around me during such a scary time. Although I know there are others around me with far more pain and hurt they are enduring, my heart feels a little more grateful and appreciate of this life that has been throwing me all over the place these past 2 weeks. @ Southlake Regional Health Centre See more

M.O.N.D.A.Y Before I start by saying something along the lines of goals or motivation Monday ... life happens and it happens in moderation. Although we’d all love to see a 7 day workout week, 7 days of eating clean, 7 days of only the most positive thoughts ... it most likely will not happen. The summer happens, the sun happens, and connection and friendship just feels so damn good in the summer months. But we can all start on our own individual little self guided Monday ...routine. This doesn’t always only mean fitness. Sit down mentally; notice what you wish for your days outcome to look like.. allow yourself to make it happen. Be okay when a little hiccup happens .. they always do... Maybe you drank this weekend, ate a little too much, got no exercise in (I didn’t). So here’s a little refresher. More so this week than ever I’ve felt agitated by what the outside world expects of us. From fashion, nutrition, yoga, working out, lifestyle.. even how to be happy. It’s like we constantly feel we need to listen to someone in order to succeed. If we don’t follow these kinda trends we’re out of the loop .. out of life even. I totally hate to admit it.. sometimes I do feel stuck. Stuck in this modernized trend of what we would be, act, do or look like from an outsiders poi...nt of view. I asked my yoga students this question last night, Do you ever feel you need to be a certain way other than your truest self in order to move forward. My answer was yes.. and I think that’s ok and accurate because we’ve obviously all been there.. we’re h u m a n. Maybe you can resonate with my feels this current week- and probably how I’ve been feeling over and over. Just something to think about as we live and learn in this crazy wild beautiful life. The only expectation you should be focused on is what YOU want.

Being a young woman there has been a lot of self doubt, some struggle, excitement, reward, questioning, experience and so much more to put into perspective of where I am today. There are so many women that have positively influenced me from the beginning. From friendships, to coworkers, girl bosses, fearless motivators and my main female empowerment my mama. It's these kinds of women whom inspire me to be like them when I grow up... because I still have a lot to learn and gro...w. I had the beautiful opportunity these past few days to lead groups of highschool girls through a yoga and mindfulness program. Yoga has helped me in all aspects of my life and has helped me grow and develop. It's brings such happiness and joy into my life to be able to share my passion of yoga and health and fitness with girls or woman that I teach. It kinda hit me yesterday after I wrapped up with the final group of teaching of upwards of hundreds of girls. Damn, I kinda am a big deal. If I can even make one girl feel amazing, inspired, empowered, strong and committed then I will be grateful for what I do. Here's to all the ladies in my life, not specifically for yesterday or today but for every single day we get to celebrate our beautiful, powerful selves. #internationalwomensday #beyou #bebold

Supermans taken up a notch. Recovering with a knee injury I have been super diligent in making sure my knee stays supported and at low risk for re-injury. I've been focusing on upper body and primarily my weak spots as I obvi can't just kill my upper body and forgot about those stabilizers which sometimes I forget about. I added 2.5lbs dbs(ya that's it!!!) to finish off my workout last night. Laying on your belly with legs extended is ideal for preventing postural problems and protecting the spine. This exercise the way I executed calls for lower bod to stay engaged and on the bench. Overall the back, shoulders, hams, core, quads and calves are getting a good awakening. #supermans #dumbells #strength #muscle #fitness #liftsmart #body #image #bodyartistfitness

Had Arthroscopic Surgery for my torn meniscus yesterday afternoon. Not even going to lie I have zero energy and can't even put any weight on my left leg.. my rehab started today with my bro training me through a few exercises. Thankful for him to make me laugh this am as I have been in so much uncomfortable pain. Hopefully I will see some improvement asap! Until then it's reading, Netflix and snacks.

Warmer weather brings patio season, casual bevies and perhaps skipped workouts to go for ice-cream. Switch that perception of summer and enjoy the weather by maybe taking your workouts outdoors, taking time to enjoy nature, planning ahead with food, creating a schedule and allowing yourself to do it all in moderation.... because at the end of the day by the time Friday rolls around we all need to have a drink.
