This is a little story about ART. I know some of the lovely people here will see the connection immediately, just looking at this quilt. I have been following @young_studios for a few years, marveling at Adam's talent to create painting's that are beautiful and thoughtful. If you look through his albums/photos you can see some themes. The ones that stand out to me are the East coast, sea life, fields of flowers including what I interpret as poppies, The Little Red Shed - who ...is so full of personality... And oh, hey... Sometimes there are quilts! On a whim, I sent the page a message, asking "why the quilts?" not expecting a response, but hoping. *Bing* - the response! And a brief chat about the quilt connection and how they are a part of the culture. As it so often happens with Art, I got inspired. A few months back, I purchased the #houseparty pattern from @modernlymorgan with nothing specific in mind, and the Inspiration led me here. I call this quilt The Shed Party - and I chose prints and colours that are bold and reminiscent of Young Studios Art. I even appliqued the eyes on the shed using stitches similar to those I see in the paintings. (Zoom in) I quilted with a gentle wave pattern... And then I sent it to the artist, a person I have never met, hoping they wouldn't find me strange/stalker-ish. Seeing it finished I just knew that the quilt was meant to be with the Young family, and I followed that feeling. Selfishly, it feels pretty awesome to give like this. Knowing that they like the quilt, and have it in the LIVING ROOM of their home is such a gift to my heart. If you wanna feel awesome, give!
