Hey friends! Here’s the latest in my series of useful articles about mental health in the pandemic that I found for you. ;) I thought this was super helpful and worth reading! I know a lot of folks are really feeling this dread about the winter ahead. https://www.vice.com//small-ways-to-prepare-home-for-winte

I am seeing this (and feeling this!) A LOT in sessions with clients. Here where I live, we have had a fairly easy time of the pandemic, relative to a lot of other people... and yet it is still taking a massive psychic toll on people, as the months drag on and the uncertainty remains. Please be kind to yourselves. Always. https://elemental.medium.com/your-surge-capacity-is-deplete

Not sleep related... But I was cleaning out my office on the weekend, when I came across a handwritten list of grounding tips that I wrote many years ago for an event that I worked at. I made a lot of copies of it, and I gave them away for a while, and then I forgot about that list. I felt like it was worth revising and resurrecting it and sharing it here. Other similar ones are around for sure, but this is the sort of advice that we all need from time to time. So in ca...se that’s you today, here you go. Save this post if you feel like you might ever find it helpful a list of easy things you can try if you ever find yourself overwhelmed and needing a little support. With love from me to you! #grounding #selfhelp #selfcare #traumarecovery #selfworth #mindfulparenting #somatictherapy #somatictools #selfregulation #babyledsleep #registeredclinicalcounsellor #traumatherapy #traumatherapist See more

I am sharing this as a resource for white followers. Getting into our bodies and getting out of being only in our heads is important. Posted @withregram @thirdspace.somatics The air is thick with grief and anger right now. Philadelphia is literally on fire. Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, New York, Oakland, LA, Miami... the list goes on.. #georgefloyd #ahmaudarbery #tonymcdade The list goes on . . .... As a small contribution to this moment I put together this brief guide for white people to address and work through internalized racism and how it shows up in our bodies and actions . . For those of us living in white bodies, shaped by the lineages of white privilege, being anti-racist takes work, honesty, and practice. Let’s put in the time. . . #somatics #antiracism #embodiedsocialjustice #embodiedantiracism #embodiment See more

Do you know anyone who might be interested in low-cost, video-based counselling with a practicum student this summer? I will be supervising Carla Dawson, a UBC Counselling practicum student, for the next few months. Carla has a special interest in working with the LGBTQ population (ages 14+). Fees will be determined in a sliding scale between $20 and $80. If you or someone you know might be interested, please get in touch!
