Tension Headaches and Massage Therapy Research by AMTA http://hub.am/RGuM1l Tension Headaches are by far the most common type of headache people experience (90-...92% of all headaches). They are triggered by muscular tension, bony misalignment, postural patterns, eyestrain, temporomandibular joint disorders, myofascial pain syndrome, ligament irritation, or other musculosketetal imbalances. Tension-type headaches may also be described as episodic (happening fewer than 15 times per month) or chronic (happening more than 15 times per month). Research has shown that in respect to tension headaches massage can: reduce depression and/or anxiety decrease perceived pain decrease anger status decrease tension reduce frequency reduce intensity reduce duration decrease medication usage increase range of cervical motion "Those patients who seek relief from tension headache pain can benefit from massage therapy given by professional massage therapists working within their scope of practice." For this week's recipe, try these brownies on for size. Swapping out butter, flower, and sugar and replacing it with avocado, stevia, and other healthy ingredients, these brownies are silky, smooth, and delicious. (recipe courtesy of Teri-Lynn Nelson @ http://teri-lynn.ca/) Non-Deadly Brownies:... Ingredients: -3 scoops Chocolate Whey Protein Powder -1 1/4 Avocado -2 tbsp Cocoa Powder -1/2 cup Raisins -1/4 cup Peanut Butter -1/4-1/2 cup Almond Milk -1 tbsp Coconut Oil -1 tsp Stevia -1 tsp Vanilla Extract -3 hand fulls of Chocolate Chips Directions: To make the healthy batter, put all the ingredients except the chocolate chips into a high-speed blender and blend until really smooth. Just use as much almond milk as necessary to get everything to blend. Then add the chocolate chips and pulse the blender to evenly mix them. Pour the mixture into a pan lightly coated with coconut oil and bake in the oven for 13-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Be sure not to overcook them or they will lose their silky texture.
