COVID Vaccine Update General population vaccinations start this week in Niagara! All individuals 80 years of age and older can now schedule their COVID vaccine appointment with Niagara Region Public Health. Public Health run vaccine clinics are scheduled over the next 4 weeks throughout Niagara. Appointments can be made online or via telephone. (1-888-999-6488)... Please pass this along to anyone you know that is 80 and over! We hope to be immunizing patients in our pharmacies soon but unfortunately information, availability and timing changes daily. Ernie Frey retired! Please join us in congratulating Ernie on his retirement! Ernie began his career in pharmacy 33 years ago as an intern pharmacist with Larry Boggio when Boggio Pharmacy was just starting out. Ernie spent several years at Boggio Pharmacy then moved to Larry’s sisters pharmacy (Hauser’s Pharmacy) in Dunnville. When we acquired Boggio & Edwards Pharmacy in Ridgeway 12 years ago Ernie decided he wanted to come back and we were happy to have him back at our Ri...dgeway and Port Colborne pharmacies. Ernie’s last shift in Port Colborne was this past Monday completing a full circle in his career as an exceptional pharmacist that deeply cared for the residents of Port Colborne. It is difficult to see him go but we wish him the best in this new stage of his life. This Christmas is looking to be an especially difficult and lonely one for our senior population. Holiday gatherings are out of the picture and with rising COVID-19 levels throughout Niagara seniors should only be making essential trips out of the safety of their home. To limit contact and reduce COVID-19 transmission this year will be different than others. Today Larry Boggio and Donnie Edwards on behalf of Boggio & Edwards Pharmacy in Ridgeway joined Steve McNeil of #1926skate for a small portion of his marathon skate for the Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara. Steve will be skating around the outdoor rink @gretzkyestates winery for 19 hours and 26 minutes in memory of his mother and others that have died of Alzheimer’s disease. Larry and Donnie did their best to keep up and brave the elements but an hour of skating was more than enough for the day! December 15th -National 1926 Skate Day. Steve McNeil's 1926 Skate for Alzheimer's is an annual charity event in support of the Alzheimer Society. Steve began this fundraiser in honour of his mother, who was born December 15th, 1926 and lived with Alzheimer's. Steve skates for 19 hours and 26 minutes on December 15th every year.
