Early this morning along the driveway the wolf left his track Taffy has two feet heading north, the wolf one heading south. Friends used to take wild animals that were rehabilitated but unable to be returned to the wild on educational junkets to schools. Before they introduced their wolf they asked the children to draw a wolf. All the wolves had huge teeth and little feet. Then they got to meet the wolf, touch him and learn about him. Then they drew pictures again. With smaller teeth and huge feet

Alex Honeyford took the picture. These wonderful birds are in our crabapple trees now and defying my attempts to photograph them so I had to find a picture. This is the best I could find . Cedar waxwings come in flocks and are very cooperative even to the point of passing food to other birds. One of our favourites, we welcome them back

Early morning visitor

Winching the tree off Tamarack cottage. Now just to fix the hole in the roof.

Last nights storm kept us busy! We lost a few big trees, one of which did some damage to the roof of Tamarack cottage! Our only fatality was one picnic table which is now very, very flat.

For all who have stood under a dark sky with me learning where to find this - to the naked eye it looks like a smudge, a thumbprint on the sky- this is what it looks like. 2.5 million light years away...more than a trillion stars (about the same size as our Milky Way) and slowly but surely heading our way #darkskies

A few weeks ago we shared some pictures from Mike Bechtel’s trailcam in our back field. He got some more, and they are pretty special. These are eastern timber wolves. They are protected species, famous for the Algonquin Park wolf howls in August. No wonder we often hear them howling at night . Meredith tossed out some windfall apples from a nearby tree to lure them to the camera
