We talk about writing time a lot, both with clients and internally. There seems to be an idea that a shorter blog will take less time than a longer blog. It makes sense. Shouldn't 500 words take less time than 1,000? But sometimes, the answer is no. There are a lot of factors that go into this, such as: How much research do we have to do? If our client provided research for the 1,000 word blog, but we have to source our own for the 500 word blog, chances are we'll be finis...hing the bigger blog faster Are interviews needed? It takes time to create a list of questions, do the interview, review/transcribe the interview (shoutout to http://Otter.ai for quick transcriptions!) and add the interview into the blog How many revisions will there be? Each revision adds time the to the clock. I'll be honest and admit something. Sometimes - depending on the topic - it's much easier to write 1,000 words than 500. So when asking your content writer how long the piece will take, remember that it often depends more on variables than word count.
