Heads up people! Due to an increase in E-Bike accidents around the area people are being speed checked now. E-bikes are 60lb + your weight metal missiles and have a stopping distance of 2x that of a motorbike and 4x that of a car when traveling at speeds above 30 km an hour. They are not built like motorbikes and handle much differently. This being said drivers in the area are also being quite reckless, equal to how reckless many cyclists are. Please ride defensively out there and follow the in town traffic and speed laws or you may end up with a hefty fine and have you bike confiscated!

With it being summer the conflict crusaders are out in force and we have been getting calls about dogs being left in a car lately. Mainly about the owner of the store. A few logistics will be laid out here. Often they have just been swimming an soaking wet and not in the car for more than a few minutes and usually have a bucket of water on the floor in the back, which unless you look you will not see, as well as the window being open wide enough for the pups to get out. That ...being said, our store has NOTHING to do with personal opinion or perception and conflict outside of business related issues. We have been instructed by NCP and legal counsel to record every phone number calling in, every profile and comment, to harass the store or staff about this as it DOES NOT pertain to us in anyway. Hence this is legally considered Harassment and even Slander depending on the conversation. Hey Folks Just a heads up if you see this bike. It was recently stolen in this area and owner would really like it back. Its a 2010 bright red Santa Cruz Tallboy, a beautiful bike. Please give us a shout so we can let the owner know!

Hey Folks! So we need to restate a store policy in regards to our trade-in practices. The questions we get the most are "why don't you pay cash for items?" and "How do you decide trade in value versus resale value?" So to address the first, theft in Nelson is rampant and increases exponentially each year, with this in mind a few years back the NPD casually asked that we stop paying cash for items as they may be stolen and we may contributing to the crime side of this issue. ...To address the second question, we use bluebook as a reference for item trade-in value, as most people use when researching items they wish to buy, we then deduct safety and once overs (Labour for due diligence), any work needed to bring it up to sell-able quality and so on. The result is similar to wholesale versus retail. We offer a trade-in value of about half of what we would sell it for minus work needed, otherwise we wouldn't be making any money at all! That being said we also adjust value depending on demand and season based on a monthly analysis and local market value. This all being said we are willing haggle and negotiate on used items especially stuff that's been in the store more than a year or two. One last factor that comes into play is also the lifespan of certain items. Some older bikes will out live many built today due to being made before the built in obsolescence movement took off a few decades ago. Some people are fine with the result, some are not. Sadly we are a business and have staff to keep fed and bills to pay and do our best to keep locals happy and in decent gear without paying an arm and a leg but don't always succeed. We appreciate the rational and understanding folks in the area who see the work we do, not just the end result, and many of the services we offer and recognize that often the work is neither easy nor simple. We love you folks who make our lives awesome and worth keeping the business going! There is really nothing better than seeing a customer stoked on what we offer limited as it may be at times. Bike tip of the day. A question we get asked a lot is what is the difference between organic and metallic brake pads. The real difference is sound, Organic is quieter, but less durable. Metallic is noisier but much durable.

Wow so as updates go this is one for the records. We are quickly running out of bikes. Many bike manufacturers under produced and are under stocked and will not be bringing any new bikes in again until spring. So what we have is what we have! If you have decent condition bikes we are very interested in trade ins as well as offering a lower cash value if it is something we need!

Phew we have been bonkers busy! We hope you are all doing well and getting through this weird time with grace. Just a few store updates - our ebikes, for the most part will be arriving on the 18th of May, we do have a few early season ones left in stock though they are going quickly. Check Igo electric bikes for info on what we have coming! We are currently backed up a bit on bike repairs so we are letting everyone know that there is a 5 day wait average on simple tune ups a...nd repairs. We aren't playing favorites no matter how simple the job, it's first come first served for simplicities sake. We are able to order anything in for you with a 4 to 5 day wait but you get a discount on retail pricing when ordering something we don't have in stock! We will no longer be carrying new Skateboarding equipment once our current stock runs out, sadly our long time distributor has retired and finding a new one with similar pricing seem to be impossible at this point. Other than that, please keep safe, both physically and mentally, get outside but respect others practices and enjoy this deep state of differentness we are all experiencing! See more

Hey Folks! We are still open! Still working on bikes, still selling much of your outdoor needs! We are not taking trade ins on many things for the time being though we will take bikes and packs. Clothing and high risk items will have to wait until we can allocate appropriate storage for the 4 days they would have to sit to make sure they are safe for resale without risk to our customers. We have implemented some safety measures within the store to limit exposure and help in what ways we can without closing down completely. We hope you are all doing well and not going to stir crazy!

Just a head up folks, We are still open for the time being. Unless a mandate comes to shut down then we will at the very least be open but on reduced hours and only one staff member. But as it stands we are open regular hours, just keeping out physical distance a bit more strictly...we are all huggers here....and upping our cleaning and sanitation procedures.
