Cue all of the poop jokes! The last few days, Bryan has been knee deep as we clean out one of the sheltered areas that sheep overnight in. We don’t like leaving them out due to the number of predators in the area. Our tractor may be smaller than what the typical farm has, but we find it does the job.

If you are persistent you might get to the point where the sheep tolerate some head scratches. Bryan makes a point of touching the sheep daily to get them more comfortable with contact. There are some sheep who figure out it is not that bad.

Danny is 6 months now; Johnny is 21 months. Danny is really starting to grow into his frame! Danny is now spending the bulk of his day with Johnny. I call them the kuvasz boys because they are a little gang of trouble makers. #livestockguardiandog

Lambs are just as fussy as ewes. We started these lambs on a pellet and then tried to switch them to something that isn’t pelleted- they will not make the switch. We keep trying to sneak a little bit in and it is routinely left in the feeder.

Caught them mid-smile! But really they are just ruminating and its luck that they both look that way at the same time. They have had enough to eat while out on pasture and are taking a break.

We are very excited to announce that we were successful applicants to the Chicken Farmers of Ontario's Artisanal Chicken Program! Instead of being limited to growing less than 300 chickens a year and not being allowed to advertise, now we will be able to raise significantly more chicken and market directly to you - our customer! We will be selling our chickens both in Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout this year so stay tuned. #borderlandsfarm
