Updated evidence on Covid 19 & pregnancy. For those who are newly pregnant and worried about the hospital during this time - my experience is that in Whitehorse - good effort has been made to make the experience normal. Hospital birth looks and feels pretty much the same as it did prior to Covid, with exception of limited supports and visitors (only birth partner and a doula are allowed) and some restrictions on where you can go (no wandering the halls or getting your own snacks from the fridge) the nurses will get you what you need however. Everyone but the birthing person and the partner are masked, gas IS available and you can move freely about your room and bathroom/shower. ITS FINALLY READY! Boreal Birth Works would like to announce the OFFICIAL opening of THE AERIE SUITE, a FULLY Licensed "B&B" made specifically for folks coming from the communities to have a baby. This suite is set up with all the amenities needed to be self contained and comfortable and to be able to labor for as long as you want at home (or birth with a midwife). Well folks - it has been a wonderful year for me at Boreal Birth works. I have had the honor of working with SO many amazing families, new and returning. So many babies, so many experiences. I LOVE my job (which is really my passion - so not like a "job" at all) and I am so thankful to all of you who have blessed my life by inviting me to play a small role in welcoming your tiny new life into the world.
