2020 was an unusual year, to say the least. It had its share of ups and downs for us all. We struggled with our little business growing while knowing so many were struggling for a variety of reasons. . After an overwhelmingly busy Christmas season (thank you!) we took some time off to rest and rejuvenate, as well as complete some sorely needed home studio renovations. Hey, friends. We haven't posted in a while to allow space for the more important conversations happening on social media. We have instead spent the last couple of weeks watching, listening and trying to educate ourselves. We recognize that we benefit from a society that is biased in our favour. While it has been great to see so many posts in support of black lives and acknowledgement of systemic racism, we know that posting our own support is insufficient; we need to take act...ion and do the work to be actively anti-racist. Let's be real: The fact that racism exists at all is fundamentally absurd, but we need to stop looking at the world as we'd like it to be, and instead consider it as it is. We need to use our platforms and our voices, however small they may be, to take steps in the right direction and help the world become more fair, more just, and more loving. We've decided to start with reading (always a good place to start) and supporting black-owned small businesses (we believe lasting change often comes through economic means). Check out our stories to see what we are reading and who we are supporting. We aren't sure what comes next, but we have to keep trying to make the world better in whatever ways we can. #blacklivesmatter

This is a difficult post to share. Last month we lost our dog of 13 years, Hugo. As described so accurately by @theoatmeal, he was an explosive paradox of fur, teeth, and enthusiasm. . While it was unimaginably difficult to lose him, we are so grateful for everything he brought to our lives, and for the incredible level of care and compassion we recieved from @bagnellveterinaryhospital throughout his entire crazy life, especially towards the end. .
