Hi everyone, just want to put it out there that we need people to email council members. Even if you just write who you are and that you are against the decision to take ice out of arenas. We have a councillor that voted against us, willing to ask for a reconsideration of the decision made to remove ice. We need all councillors aware of how many of us disapprove of the decision to remove ice, this way they know the impact it has on our community. One councillor has said he has not received too many emails. Let’s flood their emails! For our kids!
To our Skating families and friends. As many of you have heard, on Monday Chatham-Kent Council voted to remove the ice from two Chatham-Kent arenas, Bothwell being one of those arenas. The Bothwell Skating Club was not notified of the upcoming vote, nor were we consulted regarding this decision. We still have not received any formal proposals regarding other options available to our skating club for ice time. We did contact Jeff Bray on Friday and he offered us ice time in ...Dresden on December 23 & 30 and March 21 & 31, all dates we aren’t scheduled to skate in our existing ice contract with the the municipality . He also suggested ice time on Saturdays 10am to 12pm in Ridgetown. This is unacceptable, we have a ice contract in place with the Chatham-Kent Municipality for two hours on Wednesdays and on Saturdays at the Bothwell arena. I want to assure all of our skating families that we are working diligently with the other groups at both arenas affected by this decision, to stop the removal of the ice. We are asking our skating families to please email the Municipality councillors and tell them this is not okay, in a short to the point and respectful email. We would be happy to provide you with the email addresses. Thank you. https://www.chatham-kent.ca/local-governm//council-members See more
