Stop, drop, and roll is used when clothing catches fire. Teach kids to stay away from fire and candles, but if their clothes catch fire, be sure to tell them ...to: - Stop where they are. - Drop to the ground and cover their eyes and mouth with their hands. - Roll over and over and back and forth until the flames are out. - Get help from a grown-up who will cool the burn and get medical help. In keeping with tradition that one of our long serving members started years ago, we spent part of our practice supporting Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day by buying blizzards today. Naturally by the time we thought to take a picture we were all finished our treats

See these? Do you know what they are and what they represent? They are the shoes of volunteer firefighters. They are the comfortable shoes, worn at home, runnin...g errands, taking the dog out, raking the leaves. They were shed without hesitation to put on heavy uncomfortable boots and bunker gear designed to offer at least some protection from fire, broken glass, and jagged metal. Clothing whose sole purpose is to protect..... those who protect you. Local guys and gals. They work in the construction, dept store, clinics, trucking company, phone company or area farms. They leave their spouses, children, parents or whomever to come to complete strangers aid. 12 noon, 3pm, 2 am, it makes no difference. And their families want little more than to see them put their shoes back on at the end of the call. There are no words to describe the task of picking up that pair of shoes after a call, knowing the man or woman who put them there will not be returning to do it themselves. Pay attention. Get off your cell phone. Move over. Help them put their shoes back on. We all want to make it home. See more

Even batteries that appear to have lost charge can still be dangerous! Did you know that putting batteries or products that contain batteries (like toys or elec...tronics) in your recycling bin can be extremely dangerous and start a fire? Bring them to a recycling depot to ensure that nobody will be hurt! Be battery-wise and visit RecycleBC.ca/Hazardous for info and drop-off locations. See more

Bouchie Lake is also looking for new members still. If you know anyone looking to volunteer for any of our local fire departments please encourage them or yourself to come out to a practice.

Can first responders see your address? Visible, standardized signs make it easier for emergency responders to find a home or business address quickly in the eve...nt of an emergency. Often, emergency responders are travelling to remote locations with address signage that is barely legible, if there is a sign at all, and every second counts. The Cariboo Regional District has a program with local sign companies for standardized house numbering signs. The signs are available to all Cariboo-Chilcotin residents f Quesnel Sign Shop, Heritage Signworks in 100 Mile and Schickworks Signs & Stitches in Williams Lake. Order your address plate today! https://www.cariboord.ca/services/planning/house-numbering
