Who loves yellow gold? We often think of yellow gold as being pure, the yellow gold used for rings is an alloy made by combining pure gold with metals such as zinc and copper. As with other tile colours, the higher the actual gold content, but the less durable the piece of jewelry is. Therefore, 18K or 14K gold is used for wedding and engagement rings. Founder @clairekrista here! I decided to share my engagement story to start off this engagement series! Jamie and I got engaged at @atlantis in the Bahamas in front of a bunch of friends. We were on a business trip and I was not expecting it at all. A part of our business was to share our story about the journey we were having. We were sharing our story in front of our friends.....and in front of a camera....Jamie asked me to marry him! It was perfect and a moment I will never forget. I’m a hard person to surprise and he totally got me!!! It was really a moment special I will cherish forever!!!

Lately, we have had a few clients requesting Blue Sapphires. They are very desirable due to the excellent colour, hardness, durability and luster! Many sources state that sapphires are believed to symbolize wisdom, virtue and good fortune. You really can’t go wrong with royal blue!

One of our top three favourite cuts is an Emerald cut diamond. They are actually cut differently then a round brilliant diamond. Emerald diamonds have step cuts. These create flashes of light that are known as the hall of mirrors. These long flat facets reflect the light off the surface of the stone. Which instead of sparkle, you actually are seeing flashes of light that appear on or off. #emeraldcutdiamond @stylemepretty

If your shopping for a Oval diamond, it's important to know about bow-ties. A diamond bow-tie is a shadow that runs along the width of a diamond, usually in the center. This effect is usually seen in some fancy cut diamonds, such as Pear, Marquise and Oval, forming a dark shape reminiscent of a bow-tie, hence the name. Generally, a slight bow-tie effect is rarely avoidable, and is even considered a mark of top-notch cutting, having been able to properly angle and proportion the facets, table and pavilion. However, bow ties are not necessarily all bad. A slight bow tie can actually give fancy shaped diamonds a certain appeal and define the diamond’s character. But a bow tie that is so prominent as to black out a large area of the stone is certainly not ideal. #ovalengagementring
