Dr Foster has been able to reschedule his presentation to BIM Council on February 26th at 9:50 am. This will be a a short presentation on our ongoing breeding program that we participate in with Dr Foster’s lab at UBC.

Dr Leonard Foster has just informed me that due to a family emergency he will have to reschedule his presentation to council on Monday. I will post the new date when he has rescheduled.

Dr Leonard Foster from UBC is going to speak at the Monday morning council meeting here on Bowen Island at 9:55 am. He will talk about the hygienic behaviour bee breeding program that finished last summer here on the island and about on going projects. The public is welcome to attend.

Ian Kennard is offering a weekend course in how to start keeping bees, particularly for those living on Bowen Island. This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to look after honey bees. The course, delivered in both the classroom and the bee yard, is taught by Master Beekeeper and BCHPA Certified Instructor Ian Kennard using an approved curriculum. Over two full weekend days we’ll cover what you need to know to start, and then give a full day of hands-on experience in my apiary in March or April when the weather is warmer.
