Congratulations to four Bowmanville Toastmaster members who participated in the clubs Humourous Speech Contest this week. As well as delivering fabulous speeches, members took on roles of judge, Chief Judge, ballot counter and timer. There's a lot of moving parts in a contest! The winners move on to the Area 85 Humourous Speech Contest on Wednesday October 27 at 6:45pm. ... Christmas is fast approaching . . . it's only a day away and the pandemic is still with us in an even more dangerous second wave with evermore higher numbers of infections and deaths. Public health officials urge us to stay home in our own bubbles, to avoid unnecessary contacts with anyone who does not share the confines of our own home. How cruel that seems, especially at this time of the year when traditionally families gather to celebrate Christmas and the holidays together. My children and grandchildren will stay in their own bubbles and we will share togetherness over Zoom this year... Many of us have been busy during this summer season and although few in numbers on Tuesdays, we had lots of fun and held great meetings.
