This is the 600 year old Douglas Fir (to give perspective, that’s the 1400’s, the beginning of the Renaissance Era and Christopher Columbus ) that towers over our entire area, and we’re lucky to have on our property. It’s always been a popular place for eagles to perch but a few years ago a nest was built. We’re crossing our fingers for a baby or two this year! As an aside, did you know that eagles mate for life and their nests weigh approximately 450 lbs? Yup.

We’re FINALLY seeing the fishing boats this weekend, but very little action other than that, yet. Usually by now the beach is ALIVE, filled with scads of squawking seagulls and sea lions that bark all night long. I wandered down to the water today to get a feel for things and his guy let out a great, big yawwwwwwwn. I hear ya, buddy, we’re getting tired of waiting for the herring spawn too!!
