GRAPHIC WARNING: Please be advised that this post contains graphic content that may be disturbing to some people. Can you guess which uterus is infected!? Both uteruses are from similar sized dogs; however, one dog was diagnosed with Pyometra. Read more about Pyometra below to learn about why it's important to have your female dog spayed! ... Pyometra is a serious infection that can occur in an unaltered female uterus. As intact female dogs age, their hormones fluctuate during each heat cycle, causing their uterus to become thicker and engorged with excess tissue to support a potential pregnancy. As the uterine lining continues to increase in thickness, cysts can form within the uterine tissue. This uterine infection is a serious and life threatening condition that should be promptly examined and treated by a Veterinarian. Call our clinic to learn more about how you can help prevent Pyometra in your dog! See more
