Time for #MondayMythbusters! Here’s one that we hear ALL the time. For those who still think this works, consider this: Fats, oils, and grease eventually cool a...nd harden in the pipe even when hot water, soaps, or chemicals are used. The result? Clogged pipes and messy backups into your home. The good news is that this myth is getting busted more and more each year as people realize the smart thing to do is Can It, Scrape It, and Trash It! Don’t make today your laundry day! Ground is way too wet. You don’t want the water you are trying to push out to saturated ground to come back in! Be cautious of using too much water until things dry up.

Septic care checklist: What can you do to reduce the stress on your septic system? Here are some recommendations that can help. ... ****NEVER flush personal wipes or disinfecting wipes down the toilet. Dispose of wipes in the garbage**** ***Do not use bleach*** **Use liquid laundry soap vs powder. Powder soaps don’t dissolve as good as liquid and can travel through the septic tank and do damage to your tile bed.** *Use regular, good old fashioned soap for hand washing. There is no need to use antibacterial hand soap which are toxic to the essential bacteria in your septic system.*

Very informative video...

WIPES (disinfecting and baby) Many families are using more than normal amounts of disinfectants (bleach/disinfecting wipes). These chemicals are toxic to the crucial bacterial that is needed in the septic tank. All these chemicals/products can do a lot of damage to your septic tank and tile bed.... We all have enough to worry about with the health and economic impacts of the Coronavirus. A septic system backup or failure right now on top of everything else would be disastrous. Septic system owners should be mindful that every septic system has a finite capacity. If your system is stressed or overloaded beyond its capacity, you could end up with a messy, costly failure.

Self-isolation can stress septic systems With everyone spending more time at home and trying to keep the Coronavirus at bay, be aware this can increase the load on your septic system. More food is being prepared at home. Many people are washing more dishes and running the dishwasher more than usual.... The ground is already saturated and our tile beds need time to accept the extra water. ONE DROP OF WATER INTO THE TANK=ONE DROP OF WATER YOUR TILE BED HAS TO ACCEPT.

Our family has been out of the country. We left just before March break and returned home late Thursday. We are home and are aware that we are required to be under self-quarantine. We are taking this very seriously and have been stocked up with supplies by my sister (and have had many other offers to deliver-THANK YOU!). You may see AJ out in the truck doing EMERGENCY pump-outs. We have notified the customers we have to service of our situation so they are aware not to come outside while AJ is there. He is not stopping anywhere in between. Happy to be home and see the sun shining today!
