Continuous improvement is a staggeringly powerful concept. Work on getting better at something important every day. If you can get just one percent better at something, but you do that every day, think of the cumulative impact that all those incremental improvements will have on your life after even just one year's time: Think of what your life would be like if your finances were a little bit better, your nutrition, your sleep, your dental hygiene, whatever... Add up these 365 small improvements and it has a big impact on your quality of life. http://ow.ly/49TI50DYHfi

Lately I have had a couple of people ask me "What's your best investment?" Honestly, this is a dangerous question to ask, which is why I don't claim to have a "best investment". There are two reasons for this: The first reason is that there is no one perfect investment that will be all things to all people. So my perfect investment for me might be a horrendous fit for you, and vice versa.... But the second, and perhaps even more important reason, is the person asking the question almost invariably means something a little different. The person is not asking what is my "best" investment, they are asking what is my "best performing" investment. The problem is, buying an investment strictly based on past performance inevitably ends badly, sooner or later. http://ow.ly/SfIN50DYGSx

Brad Brain: "Retirement can also be a scary time. Perhaps a boring time. And maybe a lonely time. And you are probably going to do it for a few decades. I doubt you want to spend the final third of your life miserable, so listen up!"

Brad Brain: "Don’t get me wrong, I am a big believer in insurance. But please don’t make the mistake of assuming all insurances are created equal."

The fear of missing out is a very powerful motivator. It is also a lousy investment strategy. You don't even have to be actually missing out to experience the fear that you could be missing out. http://ow.ly/ams050Cj9dJ

Why is it that sometimes people with a very limited skill set believe that they possess expert knowledge? There is more to this than meets the eye. It's called the Dunning-Kruger effect, and it can be dangerous, because the people who suffer from it don't even realize it. Some people with limited abilities really do think that they are as good as the pros. Why is this dangerous? Think driving habits. Think operating a chainsaw. Think stock market behaviour. http://ow.ly/F54A50CgTy1

Buy Term and Invest the Difference. A catchy marketing slogan, sure. But perhaps terrible advice. Term insurance is designed for temporary needs. Permanent insurance is designed for permanent needs. If you attempt to deal with a permanent need for insurance by buying term and investing the difference you are most likely at a huge mathematical disadvantage. Check out this comparison that shows a term 20 policy at the first renewal is roughly the same price as a T100 policy, an...d it will be substantially more expensive at the second renewal. There is more to proper financial planning than just a catchy marketing slogan, and crossing your fingers that things work out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv0pdUzXWKM&feature=youtu.be

Value investing is buying a dollar with fifty cents. Dollar Cost Averaging takes the guesswork out of when to invest.
