This past week's QuickBooks Connect in San Jose (my 4th) was special on a number of levels. Beloved CEO Brad Smith is stepping down on January 1, and is being replaced by Sasan Goodarzi who has been carefully groomed to replace Brad. I was fortunate to spend so much time with my "Conference Broth...er", Andrew Wall, but also some good friends from Australia in Lielette Calleja and Diane Lucas. It was a thrill when Sasan came down to hang out with us for 10-15 minutes just after Brad popped in for a quick. Such is QuickBooks Connect. It's more than a conference. Looking back on 2017 with fondness despite a bit of a roller-coaster ride. Lots of changes to my business. Grew my client list substantially (and it was a quality increase, not just quantity). I also attended not just one QB Connect conference, but two. I even got to get in front of a crowd a few times at QBC Toronto. These conferences mean a lot to me. My relationship with Intuit strengthened. This has allowed me to better serve my QuickBooks clients. Intuit is like family ...to me. So are my clients. I also met many people in person for the first time that I had only a social media relationship with. Amazing people from all over the world. I look forward to serving you in 2018. Happy New Year! I cannot stress enough how important these conferences are in building my tribe, which ultimately strengthens my personal brand. The knowledge gained from breakout sessions and main stage talks is a given. The relationships that develop from networking at these events is priceless. My network is full of talented bookkeepers and accountants. Every day is a learning experience. So many people willing to share their knowledge without expectation. It was a real honour to participate in both Toronto and Vancouver (where I got to share my thoughts live on five occasions). "A rising tide lifts all boats" has been a mantra I live by, and my relationship to the QuickBooks world is a perfect illustration of how we all benefit from being part of something bigger. Find your tribe. Find your community. I'm going to experience QB Conference withdrawal but look back at these past few months with immense fondness. Thanks to my Intuit family and my ProAdvisor extended family for being there, always.

Perhaps a poorly kept secret on my part. I am deeply honoured to be asked to speak at QuickBooks Connect in December. Thanks so much to Intuit for all you do to help me succeed. I'm sharing speaking duties with some pretty amazing people for this conference. I am humbled and excited.
