Hello, My name is Braden Lanctot and I am asking for your support in my pursuit of a seat on the Whitecourt town council. I will try to keep this short and straightforward. I encourage anyone to reach out to me directly if you wish to know more about myself and what I stand for or if you wish to speak about any topics that you feel need a voice in the community. Who Am I?... I am proud to be a local business owner/entrepreneur, real estate investor, volunteer firefighter, youth volleyball coach, and Chamber of Commerce member. I was born and raised in Whitecourt and look forward to the opportunity to raise a family of my own here as well. My entire life in Whitecourt has been overflowing with opportunities that have suited me. I, just like many of you, have spent my fair share of trips to the city to find what couldn’t be provided locally, but have always made Whitecourt home. Here is where my roots began and where I continue to grow them. I hope to help others find a home in what our community offers. What do I stand behind? Young Adults I believe the future success of Whitecourt is in the hands of the young adults and their growing families. This reality will be made bright by creating meaningful opportunities that entice young families to consider putting roots down in Whitecourt more often. We need to be asking the right questions today in order to answer this call for the Whitecourt that we want tomorrow. Cooperation Whitecourt and Woodlands are the same residents using the same services. There is a need for us to Row the boat together in order for a mutual benefit to our individual goals. Development of programs, recreational attractions, and outdoor entertainment opportunities will need this cooperation. Business Development As a business owner and entrepreneur, I know just how important diverse opportunities and support programs are to drive growth and success in today's economy. With a focus on local business development, I hope to be a voice that ensures we are working closely alongside small-and-medium businesses. Enabling them to continue providing the supporting framework that allows big businesses to thrive. Working hand-in-hand, attracting new age industry to find a foothold in this opportunity-rich community. Tourism I believe that time equals money, and I am eager to see Whitecourt provide a tourism pull that has visitors spending more time in our town. There is an opportunity to capitalize on and maximize the ‘day trip’ guest, and thrill the overnight ‘along the way’ traveler in hopes to spark more and more returns- each with more time spent, resulting in a boost to our local economy.
