October Update Hello Students, Families, Friends and Community! FALL/WINTER 2021 WEEKLY ART CLASSES Will be posted December 1st 2020... Currently at this time we are still keeping all safety protocols in place and keeping an eye on daily numbers for our new upcoming art term scheduled to start in January 2021. Please know this is a very different time for everyone and we are trying to make the most positive safest decisions going forward. Changes to class sizes capped at 10 students, class times, guidelines and cleaning to ensure all health & safety measures are met at all times will all remain in place going forward. We will be having another picture pickup date on *Wednesday August 5th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm* for all our Weekly Art Class Students who did not complete the art term due to Covid 19. Please note this is a quick pickup schedule as we are expecting many pickups on this date just to avoid no gatherings. Artwork will be bagged and labeled with students name according to class date and time attended No entrance will be allowed into studio as we will be doing door pickup only. At time of pickup please advise our office staff with students name and class attended Example- Primary Art- Monday 5-6:45 We kindly ask for masks to be worn at door pickup. **IMPORTANT UPDATE** With a very heavy heart we have made the decision to remain closed for summer (July and August) This is for the safety of our community, families, students and staff as there are many Health and Safety regulations put in place and for a school like ours this would seem almost impossible to make work. This will be the first summer in 8 years that we do not have camps running and we are all feeling the sadness of this.. however we know it's the best call a...s everything we do in our summer program is hands on, social interacting, activity group work and the list goes on. We value everyone's safety and well being and know that although this is a hard choice it is for the best. We are scheduled to be open to our students for September Weekly Art classes going forward and cannot wait to be back! Weekly art classes will be much more easy to implement as our class sizes are smaller, students have their own art kits and classes are more serious structured making for own personal space at tables. We appreciate each and every one of you for all your support and kind words and look forward to September making for many new wonderful art memories! We will be putting together "ALL" weekly art class students artwork and scheduling pickup dates/times for students/classes that will be posted over the next 2 weeks. Along with this will also be credit vouchers sent out to our weekly art class students for the unfinished art term of Winter/Spring 2020. Important Summer Art Camp 2020 Update We are currently in the process of weighing out all the health and safety measures to see if this new guideline list can be put into place at our wonderful Bradford Art School studio that we are all missing so much. Our main concern is the safety and health of every student, family and staff in our facility also keeping in mind everyone's mental well being. Some new restrictions that would be mandatory for Camp are PPE, daily health scre...ening with recorded data, screening of all student entry at front entrance, no outside public entry, drop off pickup at front entrance only, reminded student social distancing ( 6 feet at all times) , no shared play time or grouping, strict supply use with no shared tools and new cleaning rule guidelines at all times. This seems very overwhelming as our day to day summer camps in the past 8 years were filled with 25 fulltime campers, sharing, caring, smiling, playing, creating, group working and making for many new friends creating summer camp memories that last a lifetime! Health and Safety guidelines for Covid -19 states our new head count would consist of maximum 10 people at all times in the studio. This would include the staff and students making for very challenging times for a business like ours where we strive on our wonderful summer programs being filled and welcoming all and everyone with hands on interaction through the wonderful world of art. Currently at this time we are still taking registration and holding spots for summer camps which are scheduled to start the week of July 6th on wards however with a heavy heart we are also looking at the reality of how these new guidelines that are put into place would look and how it would work for our 8 week summer program to continue forward. Every decision made is for the health and mental well being always. Unfortunately we do have to decide if it would make sense to remain open for the summer or to proceed forward and make a very sad choice to cancel all summer programs and close until September 2020 for our new term of Fall/ Winter weekly art classes. "Week Six Art Activity" Acrylic Paint on Canvas Technique "Abstract Artastic" Tools needed:... - Stretch back canvas (use size as desired) - acrylic paint - paint brushes flat head - paper or styrofoam plates - paper towel - water bowl - green painters tape thin - table cloth - disposable recommended **TIPS** Ages All & Everyone Acrylic paints are a wonderful paint to use where mistakes can easily be perfected. Paints can be used on canvas, wood, clothing or any heavy weight paper. Acrylic paints are permanent and can be repainted over and over again building layers. This is called "Colour buildup" Colours build and become stronger as they are used, this also allows for perfection to be made. Acrylic paint does dry very quickly. Acrylic paints and water do not mix well as the water can thin out the paint making it watery. Water should only be used as needed to rinse or thin as needed. Colour tip Techniques: White lightens any colour Yellow brightens any colour Brown tones down any colour Black added just makes black. Embrace line, shape and colour through the world of Abstract. "Week Five Art Activity" Cartooning Technique "TWEETY BIRD" Tools needed:... - 8.5 x 11 regular white paper - pencil / eraser - sharpener - black marker or fine tip marker - markers of choice **TIPS** Ages 4 & Up Markers are so much fun! Bold beautiful bright colours that are so fun and easy to use by all ages. Remember when drawing in cartoons to press light with your pencil. This will allow for good erasing so when the marker is applied you will have no pencil lines showing. This technique embraces the beauty of fun and allows everyone to participate. "Week Four Art Activity" Watercolour Technique "Summer Days" Tools needed:... - 8.5 x 11 white heavy paper or white bristol or canson (watercolor paper) - pencil / eraser - sharpener - ruler - black pen or fine tip marker - paint palette - watercolour paint tube or puck palette - assorted brushes - paper towel - water bowl **TIPS** Ages 4 & Up Watercolour has many looks and can be used by all ages.
