Message from Mayor Rob Keffer: COVID-19 update April 14, 2020 I received the very sad news today that there have now been two COVID-19 related deaths in BWG, ...both residents of Bradford Valley Care Community. On behalf of the council and staff of the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, I extend our most sincere condolences to the families and friends of these individuals. This is an extremely frightening and stressful time for many people. For anyone living in long term care, for their families, for their caregivers and indeed for anyone working in a high-risk essential position, the pressure is enormous. Which is why there is no excuse for the risky behaviour that some people still choose to take part in. Municipal Enforcement Officers and South Simcoe Police have been responding nonstop to complaints about gatherings in both public and private places, non-essential businesses remaining open, vandalization of barriers at playgrounds and more. Premier Ford announced today that the Declaration of Emergency has been extended until May 12. This allows us to continue to enforce current emergency orders, and our Officers will remain vigilant. But we need your help. If you are already doing your part by restricting trips out of the home to the essentials including work if you are employed in an essential service, or shopping for food then I urge you to talk to other people in your family or circle of friends to make sure they are complying. Don’t be enticed by a friend to stop and chat. Elect just one member of the household to shop at a time, and try to restrict these outings to no more than once a week. Report infractions if you see them. You can call Town of BWG By-law Enforcement at 905-775-5366 ext. 1701 from Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm and Saturday-Sunday, 9am-5pm. Outside of these hours, call South Simcoe Police’s non-emergency line at 905-775-3311. Reports of non-compliance with physical distancing, including crowding inside stores, should be made to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at 1-877-721-7520. It will take the efforts of all of us to flatten the curve and protect the most vulnerable among us. Thank you for your support. Best, Rob Keffer
