Tip of the week: Is the water in your hot tub or swim spa cloudy? Cloudy water is usually caused by one of four things: - Not enough sanitizer in the water. - Poor water balance. - Poor filtration.... - Old water. If your hot tub water is cloudy, take a sample of your water into your local hot tub retailer for testing. If the water test shows problems with either sanitizer or water balance, follow the directions to fix the problem. Your water should then clear up in 1-2 days. If the water test shows everything is good, your problem could an old filter. If your hot tub filter is more than 12 months old, replace it. If your filter is still pretty new, the issue could be that your hot tub water is old and needs changing.
Tip of the week: Over time, it is common for hot tub pumps to get louder. This increased noise is usually from water getting into the motor. Over time, the rubber seal that separates the wet end of the pump from the motor degrades, letting water into the motor. This water begins to rust the shaft of the pump. As the shaft spins this rust grinds against it’s housing, causing an increase in noise when the pump is on. If you notice your hot tub pump getting louder, take it in to get it professionally rebuilt before you end up having to replace the pump!

There is nothing better than relaxing in a hot tub on a cold winter’s night. With the cold weather also comes some challenges for hot tub owners, however. Fortunately, these challenges can be avoided with some preparation in the fall. Here are our top tips to make your hot tub winter-ready!
Every hot tub owner knows that they need to add chemicals to their how tub water but few really know what all of these chemicals do. In this article, we explain what the most common chemicals actually do.
Happy New Year from everyone here at Brady's Pool & Spa Care!
Tip of the week: When testing your hot tub water make sure to turn on the jets for a few seconds before taking your water sample. Turning on the jets mixes the water; evening out the water chemistry and giving you a more accurate result!
Hydropool swim spas, the perfect morning routine!
Tip of the week: Got a foamy hot tub? Do you get an oily buildup around the waterline? It could be caused by a buildup of biofilm. Next time you drain the hot tub, clean out the pipes first to break up biofilm buildup inside your hot tub's plumbing and deliver clearer, foam-free water when you refill.
Flow errors (commonly displayed as either FLO, FL, FLOW or LF) are the most common hot tub error codes that we come across. In this article, we show you how to troubleshoot and fix flow errors in your hot tub, regardless of the make and model.
Tip of the week: Do your eyes get red or irritated when you use your hot tub or swim spa? This likely means that the pH of the water is out of balance. Your eyes naturally have a pH around 7.5. The farther your water's pH is from this level, the more irritating it will be to your eyes. For a more comfortable bathing experience, keep your swim spa or hot tub water's pH level between 7.4 and 7.6.

In this article, we explore a few of the more common ways that people try to extend their swimming seasons to see which will actually allow you to swim year-round.

Merry Christmas from everyone here at Brady's Pool & Spa Care!
Tip of the week: Reduce your hot tub maintenance by making sure that the filtration system runs long enough to let them do their job properly. If the filtration system isn’t given enough time to properly clean the water you can quickly run into water clarity issues that greatly increase your maintenance time. Not only that, but you will also likely need to purchase chemicals to solve the issue, negating the reason for reducing the filtering time in the first place. To make sure that your hot tub filtration system can properly clean the water, we recommend that you let it run for at least 12 hours per day. If you’re looking to lower your energy costs, you can program the filter cycles to run during off-peak hours whenever possible.
Tip of the week: Clear water doesn't always mean well balanced water. Remember to get your hot tub water professionally tested at least once per month to make sure that your water is well balanced. Balanced water leads to a better, more comfortable bathing experience, and prolonged life for your hot tub jets, plumbing and equipment like the pump and heater.
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
Tip of the week: When ordering a new hot tub cover, make sure that you measure the position and length of your cover locking straps. If the straps on your new cover are different than the old ones you will have to reposition the clips in the cabinet, leaving unsightly holes in the cabinet.

Over time, these layers begin to loosen and expand. As they expand, larger and larger material can pass through the filter. This can lead to water quality and clarity issues.
