Right before the Pandemic hit Kal Rotary Vernon, BC donated funds for BrainTrust to purchase new computer equipment for our Vernon Support team. Thanks to this donation BrainTrust was able to quickly adapt to the needs of our clients and provide remote services. Thanks Kalamalka Rotary!
Did you know that your brain can actually recover lost functions after a brain injury? It does this by reorganizing and rewiring itself. This amazing ability is called Neuroplasticity. Our NeuroRecovery Centre focuses on cognitive rehabilitation with the goal of advancing neuroplasticity. Powered by ABI Wellness, our innovative evidence-based model has shown high success rates in restoring quality of life for our clients with acquired brain injury and persistent concussion. As a caregiver or family member to someone with a brain injury, it is important to take the time to fill your own cup and take care of yourself too. BrainTrust Canada offers 1:1 Life Skills Support for caregivers and family members. We provide information on self-care tools and strategies for managing post-injury life, as well as clinical counselling. Thank you to ICBC for appreciating the value of those supporting people with brain injury and funding our Caregiver Support Program. Here's a snap shot of BrainTrust's Staff Meeting this morning on #InternationalWomensDay. We are so proud of the amazing women on our team! There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish. Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of the United States
These sunshine days are great for supporting our daily intake of Vitamin D! This sunny vitamin is important for protecting and supporting brain health. It helps with memory recall, reducing inflammation, and increasing serotonin. All are important for brain injury recovery and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Turn your face to sun and make your #BlueMonday bright instead!
Advocacy It's a big part of what we do at BrainTrust Canada. We advocate for clients with brain injury to ensure they have the supports needed to navigate the services available to them. We know that it takes a lot of work and effort to recover post-injury and understanding the ins and outs of supportive systems can be overwhelming. That's where we come in! Contact us to see how we can help: 250-762-3233
THANK YOU for contributing to our Brain Injury Changes Lives holiday campaign! Because of your generous donations we were able to substantially surpass our $5,000 goal in December. These donations will go directly to individual services in support of recovery for those experiencing brain injury and concussion in our community. If you would like to continue to donate to BrainTrust throughout the year, follow this link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/36278

Ahhh Sundays! Perfect for finding a few moments of quiet. Not only is meditation and mindfulness a great stress reliever, it's also an excellent tool in brain injury recovery, aiding in neuroplasticity and healing! Take 3 - 5 minutes this evening to count to 4 as you inhale and 4 as you exhale and repeat. It's a simple way to improve brain health as well as developing mental wellness!
With #Movember upon us, we're focused on men's physical and mental health after sustaining a brain injury or concussion. Did you know that men are more likely to experience a brain injury than women? Luckily, there's a lot of support for recovery! Learn more: braintrustcanada.com
Our Crime Reduction and Prevention Program offers support for persons with brain injury in contact with the justice system through rehabilitation, collaboration, and advocacy. We also offer a men’s specific peer group. Allowing men with brain injury who have been through the justice system to talk to each other and offer support and healing. These are just some of the ways BrainTrust supports men’s mental and physical well-being! #Movember https://buff.ly/2GksYd0
