We recommend that you floss once a day. Whether you do it first thing in the morning, right after your lunch, or at bedtime doesn't really matter. The important thing is to fit it into your schedule diligently as you do with eating meals or brushing your teeth. #DrDinaLebowitz #BramaleaPeriodontics

Replacing your missing teethwith dental implants can prevent bone loss from occurring, allowing your jaw to keep its natural shape and appearance. Dental implants mimic the function and appearance of natural teeth. When you have dental implants placed into your mouth, they integrate to your jawbone and stabilize both it and your surrounding teeth. Dental implants also provide your jawbone with the constant stress and stimulation it needs to maintain itself. This stimulation ...is something that a basic crown and bridge solution cannot provide. With a dental implant, you keep your jaw healthy and maintain the structural integrity of your whole set of teeth. #DrDinaLebowitz #BramaleaPeriodontics

Have you heard of mask mouth? With all the mask wearing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, some people have noticed that they have not been pleased with what they are smelling while sporting a mask. When you wear a mask you may notice you are breathing through your mouth a lot more and this can cause you to have a dry mouth, hence the odour. ... What can you do? Wash your reusable mask regularly! Stay hydrated! Practice good daily oral hygiene at home! Brush your teeth twice daily and floss once a day. Clean your tongue. See your dentist regularly! Keep your scheduled maintenance appointments. Use a mouth rinse! Cut down the sugary snacks! Breathe through your nose! #DrDinaLebowitz #BramaleaPeriodontics

You can't see them, feel them or taste them, but your mouth is home to entire colonies of microorganisms While most of these tiny oral bacteria do us no harm, there are other species in the mix that are disease causing and can affect our health and need to be controlled with a healthy diet, good oral care practices and regular visits to your dentist. Signs of Gum Disease Periodontal (GUM) disease begins as inflammation of the gums. This may manifest as bleeding gums during flossing, brushing, or even eating.... Pain can, but usually does not accompany gum disease until it reaches an advanced stage. Recession of the gums is also a common presentation and may include sensitivity of the affected teeth to cold air, food, or liquids. Bad breath and loosening of teeth is another sign of periodontal disease and should be discussed with your dentist or periodontist as soon as possible. #DrDinaLebowitz #BramaleaPeriodontics

A link has been proven between control of blood sugar (glycemic control) in diabetics and periodontal disease. Patients who have gum disease have worse control over their diabetes then those with healthy gums. Unsurprisingly, the reverse is also true; patients with diabetes are more apt to have periodontal disease (and it is often more severe). Regardless of your blood sugar levels, do not skip your regular dental visit and get your gums checked today! #bramaleaperiodontics #DrDinaLebowitz #gumsanddiabetes #diabetes

Did you know , when you have missing teeth, you lose the natural support to your facial structure that your teeth provide. Professional dental cleanings are important for removing plaque and tartar buildup. . . Did you know that your jawbone needs the stimulation from your teeth connecting with each other, like when you chew, in order to maintain its mass? When you have missing teeth and that stimulation is not present, it is common to lose bone mass in your jaw as a result. Dental Implants are the only tooth replacement treatment that generally helps maintain bone volume in the area of the missing teeth being replaced.... #DrDinaLebowitz #BramaleaPeriodontics
