Balance - Offence Stability - Movement Security - Defence Each of the above elements in boxing are essential. The right boxing stance will allow you to throw variety of punches with out being exposed. ... 1. Not too close or far. Think toe - heel alignment. Front foot on a 15-20 degree angle and the rear foot on a 45degree angle. Good balance and mobility 2. Too forward and straight. Less mobility and balance. Hard to throw right hand with out loosing balance 3. Too squared. Our centre line is more exposed. Easier to loose balance when moving back. Less reach on our jab from this position. From a good boxing stance you are able to move faster , hit harder and most importantly defend more confidently. The foundation of a house comes first and most be solid in order for the house to be built. Skipping is an essential part of a boxing student’s warm up. It is important to gradually increase the time in which one skips to build a tolerance in the calfs and lower legs. If we try to out due what our bodies are capable of, this may lead to pain in the calf, ankle or feet. A quick self check is to see how you stand on your toes. You will notice if you: 1. Raise up on the outside of your foo (first video "normal heel raise") OR... 2. Raise up on through your big toe. The exercise seen with the lacrosse ball demonstrates how you can show engage a muscle called your Tibias Posterior to help alleviate pain. The video tagged "Lacrosse ball without cue" allows the body to try and learn the movement. The next one tagged "With cue" helps when you aren't able to raise the heels with the lacrosse ball through the big toes of both feet. The goal is to be able to hold the lacrosse ball between the heels and stand on your toes through your big toe.
