VIRTUAL EVENT - FLYING: INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES The Royal Aeronautical Society Young Persons Network in Canada is pleased to announce our first virtual event: Flying: International Perspectives. It will feature a panel of four airline pilots from different countries. Before joining the airlines, these pilots flew in roles such as glider towing, flight instructing, agricultural aviation and humanitarian relief. Each brings their unique experiences acquired from flying in ...very different parts of the world, in both their own countries and abroad. Discussion topics include training and career paths in different countries, international experience as a means of professional development, crew resource management training, the panelists’ advice to pilots and instructors, and more. The event will take place on Sunday, July 26, at 16:00UTC (12:00 Eastern Daylight Time; 17:00 British Summer Time). Not that we don’t think anyone who touches the sky is not awesome, but here’s a bunch of pilots who burnt the midnight oil studying, flew fastidiously and invested their all to operate on a slightly elevated Flight Level, and we’re awful proud, and so happy we could reward their efforts. Dear members and associates, all our prep for Monday has been done. We’ve leaned on our colleagues in the industry, bounced ideas off each other, and worked hard at more than just regulatory compliance; we’ve prepared a space that should make our members comfortable to visit. The majority of our instructors have completed their ICCs, and the rest will be done within the first week of operations.... We solicit your due care to assure smooth COVID-19 operations. Just a reminder that we are limiting our members to those who have imminent bookings, checkout flights, scheduled exams, or pre arranged sessions with their instructors. All meetings with staff will be by appointment only. Ground school attendance will be moderated as well. And finally the prep is on for our return! We’ve got to get all our Instructor’s Competency Checks done, and that project has been underway since yesterday. The outstanding maintenance on the fleet is being undertaken by maintenance in parallel. Our building has been modified to accommodate for COVID-19 compliant operations, with separation stickers, and new protocols with aircraft returns being implemented.... We will be limiting the number of people in the building to members with an imminent a/c or Sim booking, or ground school classes for the impending operations. Please use wingman as per usual to make new bookings. Meetings with staff will have to be prearranged, and entry to ground school classes will be by registration only. All interested parties for the PPL Ground School have to contact Judy Piccioni at [email protected] to be added to the list.
