Cody White is a 5 year old boy who lives in Forrest, MB with his parents Ian & Ashley and his brother Connor. On August 25th, Cody was rushed to Winnipeg Children’s Hospital and within hours was diagnosed with B-All Leukemia. He has not been able to start Kindergarten with his friends and expe...rience all the excitement of starting school. Also, his big brother Connor (who was set to begin Grade 3 this year) has not been able to return to school either - to ensure his brother does not catch any illnesses due to his reduced white blood cell count and body’s inability to fight infection. Their neighbors have begun fundraising efforts and we definitely want to help out! The purchase of a Courage For Cody bracelete will help support the White Family with the expenses of having to be in Winnipeg for treatments. Cody has a long road ahead of him and we want to alleviate some financial strain on the family. The White's will receive 100% of the proceeds raised from the sale of these bracelets.

Neal is our resident MMA trivia nerd who will happily give you his opinion on any fight or fighter - past or present - and has an uncanny ability to carry on a full conversation while rolling. Neal is not only a BJJ Blue Belt, but also holds a Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in Judo, as part of Brandon Judokan. Lisa likes to smash pads and wrestle hard, and is a BJJ Blue Be...lt. She is also is an engaged club member who works hard to keep us organized by handling admin and marketing, as well as partnerships and sponsors! She not only coordinates and teaches in our youth programs, but heads up our growing women's programs too! It's National Coaches Week and we'd like to introduce you to one of our favourite and most fashionable Jiu Jitsu Coaches, Chris Tymchuk! Chris loves pressure passing and training both gi and no gi jiu jitsu. He is famous for his relentless passion for rash guards and teaching/training with sound effects. Chris received his BJJ Brown Belt from Chris Kading under Curtis Brigham, and we are incredibly fortunate that he calls WAMMA Brandon home. Not only does he guide our adu...lt and youth BJJ competition teams (and their Coaches), Chris also leads training for military members in nearby Shilo - sharing the wealth of knowledge he brings back from trips overseas when he is away for work. Chris is a pillar of our gym, and it has been wonderful to have his two boys as part of the Wammily as well - and we can't forget to mention his lovely wife who shares her photography talents with the team. It's National Coaches Week and we'd like you to meet Muay Thai Coach, Domingo Zuniga! Domingo trained and competed in Muay Thai and kickboxing for over 20 years. He retired from competing to persue a career in dentistry but has continued to coach athletes and officiate events as well. Domingo's technical guidance and tough conditioning regimen is greatly appreciated by our competitors - and we have been grateful to have him our corner over the years! It has also been an ...absolute delight to have Domingo's two young daughters amongst the ranks of our youth grappling programs! Although he is currently taking a break from teaching/coaching to focus on his dental practice, we all look forward to his return! It's been a wild year and although we haven't been able to train much, our team can't wait to get back to hard training very soon! We'd like to start the week with a massive thank you to Canada's most experienced (retired) Pro MMA Fighter and one of Wamma Brandon's favourite Coaches, Joe Doerksen! The entire WAMMA Crew has been incredibly grateful to have Joe in our corner for several ye...ars now... and we are sad to announce that Joe will be moving on. We wish Joe and his family the absolute best as they settle into their next chapter. We will miss you all very much and we will certainly look forward to your visits! Due to the ongoing community transmission of Covid-19 in Brandon and other areas of the Prairie Mountain Health Region, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will not be proceeding with Youth Grappling classes (including Bully Safe) as per our usual timelines this fall. This means we will not be opening registration in September and will not be beginning youth classes in October. As young students return to school next week, we wish to monitor the situation and ho...pe to commence modified youth programming once families have had time to settle into new routines. That said, please stay tuned for updates as we move forward with the school year. We hope to be able to welcome advanced young grapplers back soon and look forward to welcoming older youth to join us in muay thai training as well. Our Coach & Instructor team thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. This was a difficult decision to make but we believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to ensure a healthy and safe training environment for all.
