When was the last time you poured into yourself? When was the last time you listened, really listened to what you need in this moment? In this season of your life [amongst so much uncertainty] this has never been so important. ... How can you show up for yourself in this moment?

COMPARISON IS THE THIEF OF JOY If I had one wish for you, it was to see yourself the way others see you. All the amazing things that make you so uniquely yourself. To know in your heart that you are so worthy. You are so enough just the way you are - right now. ... Not when you make that change - everything you aspire to is already within you. You are so incredibly loveable. My wish for you is that you step into this knowing- this power - that you realize that you don’t need to wait until you get there [wherever there is] to be enough. You don’t have to be constantly creating and busy to be worthy of love. You have boundless love within you - all that love you pour onto others. My wish for you is that you would pour it onto yourself. #ILY #youaresoloved #growbabygrow

The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. #danmillman 2020 has been quite the YEAR. Is it bad I am already getting excited for 2021?! Anyone else looking forward to a new year a little earlier than normal ?

Focus - steady your gaze and bring your full attention on the task at hand. Every balancing posture keeps me focused and challenged to stay ever more present and connected to my body. Kneeling bow pose gets much easier with consistent practice. ... To enter the pose [after a warm up for the shoulders, hip flexors and glutes] from table top position curl your right toes under and extend your left leg behind you. As you bend the knee roll your left hip on top of the right one. Bring your heel to glute and catch the foot. Draw the scapula together lifting the arch of the backbend into the thoracic spine. Similar to dancers pose, begin to extend your leg behind you, guide the foot away. Continue to roll open as if you are trying to open your chest completely to the left side of the room. Keep sending the leg back behind you, aiming to hold it parallel to the floor to release the front of the leg. Remember to repeat on your right leg See more

In defence of Discipline or burning enthusiasm - The 3rd #niyama or moral code. For me #tapas is incredibly important for my mental health and well-being. I need discipline, to be dedicated and committed to persistent positive action to feel at my best. I have found discipline in many forms, pursuing higher education, being a mom, and also through intentional movement - also known as finding #flowstate . ... I am a do-er. When I have a goal or direction, my life feels ordered and I can channel my energy. When my life is open ended and I am spoiled for choice, my anxiety awakens, I fall out of routine, productivity halts as I can’t figure out what to do first because nothing is most important. As the wheels fall off I also get super grouchy (you can ask my husband if you don’t believe me, lol) As I am always aiming to get to know myself more and understand why I do what I do, I wondered if this was because I was a victim of the ‘glorification of busy’. We are so busy as a society and us moms are lighting the candle at both ends trying to get it all done. But being over scheduled to the point of societal burn out is different and something separate from tapas. I hope I can make a case for tapas and why it can be something you can harness and introduce to help you align your life with what you want. Tapas might look like making your bed each morning, or sitting in stillness for one minute to bring awareness to your breath. It is easier to simply walk away from your messy covers, but this small act sets you into positive action. This takes discipline, and these small moments are keystone habits (read: atomic habits) that have a ripple effect in your life. It calibrates you’re brain - that the easy way isn’t the best way. Sustaining tapas is something that I covet. Establishing boundaries can help you sustain tapas and also figuring out what gets you into flow state. What is a keystone habit for you? See more

Slowing the breath and bringing so much attention to the body that your beta brainwaves (the electrical movements of the brain) begin to slow down to alpha and theta waves. Brain waves can be measured with an electroencephalograph (EEG). Beta waves (high frequency waves) are the brain waves associated with the waking or thinking state. During beta, brainwaves range from 14 to 40 cycles per second. ... Alpha is a slower state more indicative of relaxing and reflecting. During alpha brain waves range from 9 to 14 cycles per second. This is a state of being deeply aware of your surroundings, relaxed and meditative. This is the most common meditation brainwave. Theta is an even slower brain wave state of daydreaming and intuitive thinking. During theta, brainwaves range from 5 to 8 cycles per second. It is a state between wakefulness and sleep. In this state of mind, memories, thoughts and facts that eluded a person in a wakeful state can be recalled. It is often in this state that answers to problems seem to appear. Deep meditation is practiced in the theta state. Delta is the slowest of the four states where sleep occurs. During delta, brainwaves range from 1.5 to 4 cycles per second. At the slowest delta level, sleep is deep and dreamless. Meditation allows our mind to move through these states leading to many psychological benefits. When we control our brainwaves, we control how we think, feel, reason and react. Relaxation, creativity and self-awareness flow naturally. As we meditate, our physical health improves and we are able to release emotional blockages. See more
