People travel from all over the world to the Coromandel Peninsula to dig their own natural hot tub on the aptly named Hot Water Beach. As you dig into the sand, steaming-hot groundwater from a nearby hot spring seeps in, transforming your hole-in-the-ground into your very own private hot pool on the edge of the ocean.

Getting here involved hopping fences, scaling rock walls, swinging from tree branches, and clambering down rickety ladders. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but well worth the effort.

The Blue Spring's crystal clear water takes up to 100 years to filter through the earth, and apparently provides 70% of New Zealand's bottled water. Evian ain't got nothing on this.
