One Direction Calgary

On the 16th August I visited the Hoggin Alberta veterans ranch to look at a sight the president had selected to build their first ever veterans cabin. They had procured 79 acres of land near Caroline to develop into a ranch specifically for veterans having issues coping with PTSD issues. This ranch is to be the first of its kind and it is located in Alberta. After looking at the sight and speaking to the president I told him unless you have something physical to see and touch... then it was just a dream. I informed him and his organization that my nonprofit charitable association One Direction Calgary would step up to the breach and make their dream become a reality by building them their first ever veterans cabin. Then started the real work, obtaining donations from all over the province reaching out to 100s of potential contractor for materials etc etc then working out the logistics to get it an hour forty five minutes to site north of Calgary every weekend. Sorting the site out with materials equipment tools ready for volunteers. Approaching volunteers and working out the logistics so that they all have a meaning full enjoyable experience volunteering. Tasking volunteers with jobs and giving instructions on the use of various power tools then also pushing each and every volunteer out of their comfort zone so that they improved their self confidence all why’ll constructing a cabin. In total I had 15 volunteers visit the site 800m in the bush and work in all environments sun, rain mud and snow. In total we have only spent 10 full days working on this project and 70% of the project so far has been achieved with zero budget. Have a look at the attached pictures and videos to see just how well our volunteers have done. All it needs is a little quality leadership and people of any age can achieve amazing things together. The ranch hope to develop 26 of these cabins and this is only the first one. It’s not often we hear about Good people doing good things in in our communities and City Vania Dimitrova a local community artist brought together 90 peace’s of artwork from the children of the Scarboro community it is all now displayed on the fence of their local school for the local community residents to also enjoy. It is events like these that need exposure and if this community can do it then we wonder just what other communities are doing to brighten up their neighborhood’s. The reason non of us know is because the media don’t think it’s that important. Well we at One Direction Calgary actuallydo care. Big news today from my charitable organization, after meeting with the Directors of One Direction Calgarys nonprofit Charitable Association we have unanimously voted to Sponseor the first cabin to be constructed by our volunteers at the Hogging Alberta Vererans Ranch We will be providing everything to build this project over the comming months. Very exciting. Like most weekends I have things happen in my life and today was no different It consisted of visiting the Alberta Muslim Society Association located here in Calgary, I attended in my capacity as the Managing Director of One Direction Calgary as one of our association members who works relentlessly at the Calgary veterans food bank, managed to pull together and donated 15 skids of Food aid using his contacts with various companies this donation was delivered to the Lebano...n emergency relief. This epic food drive was pulled together by Good Calgarians doing good things in our city, So a huge shout out goes to our Lebanese Canadian citizens and Trevor Klein (Vice President of the veterans food bank). The Premier also was in attendance along with a number of MLAs and ministers. After the government officials departed I took some time after speaking to numerous volunteers and enquired about all their efforts and they explained that for the past week they have been working relentlessly pulling together food aid which will be delivered to the Red Cross and the Lebanon food bank in the weeks that follow. Did a little volunteering, The Calgary veterans food bank were in desperate need of a security door for their wear-house , so One Directions Calgary a nonprofit charity stepped up and through colaberation with suppliers were able to supplied all the materials I required free, me and a young apprentice who I found laying around at friends house volunteered his time. The whole install was at zero cost to the Food bank. Time well spent and the young 14 year old had a free day of education in steel work, powertool use, drywall fitting, mudding etc complimentary skills training donated by yours truly.

Yesterday we at One Direction Calgary Presented a new 30 x 30 foot Marquee event tent to be use as accommodation for Hogging Alberta one of our Association members. The tent was obtained through means of kind donations by Calgarians to the nonprofit charitable association. Hogging Alberta provides rest bite R&R for our cities ex forces personnel suffering with PTSD and other mental illness issues. Just a few of the things they provide is activities like Fishing, camping, comradeship and other outward bound activities. These are good people in our city doing good things. One Direction Calgary taking time to help distribute donated meals to families who are finding it hard to put meals on the table during the COVID 19 crisis. We hope this will go just a little way to helping ease family stress at this time.

Congratulations to our newest member of One Direction Calgary charitable association please check out this Community and City Artist Vania Dimitrova on www.artescape-vaniadimitrova.com. Not only is she a well known artist in Calgary but has had many of her works displayed around the world. She runs summer art camps in her community as well as volunteers her time for art programs with seniors in local after school clubs. Always working on community programs to brighten up our cities parks and green spaces with her art she is a good Calgarian doing good things not only in her community but also in our city.

Calgary City Council and Government Submission Hopefully this document wasn’t time wasted however only time will tell. Municipal provincial and federal Governing bodies now have a 14 days time scale to address some of the issues I have outlined here about our CFD, then I intend releasing its contents to the general public 90% of Calgarians are total unaware of some growing concerns within our fire department. On Monday evening I went to visit yet another nonprofit Calgary charity called Made by Momma, I met for the first time one of the founders of the charity and now President Allyson Palaschuk. I was told all about this wonderful charitable organization, They have so many programs happening it really made your head spin, basically they help families facing situations of adversity and crisis by providing healthy prepared meals, wholesome baked goods, baby essentials, children’s i...tems, supportive in-home visitors and other services to allow mothers the time they need to rest, recover and focus on their families and their health. Because they are 100% volunteer-run, their operating costs are kept low, and the effectiveness of donated dollars/ items very high. The Calgary Veterans services society They are a group of Calgary citizens who with gratitude have chose to serve those who have served us. With honour and respect they will always endeavour to ensure they provide a hand up to those that find themselves in need within our citie veterans community.
