Thinking about all the folks, our Branstone clients and their neighbours, family and friends in Red Lake, ON during this time of uncertainty with the nearby fire! Hope all are okay!
Some wisdom for today: READ: Please dont run from bears or push your slower friends down in attempts of saving yourself. As a follow-up to a previous post, if you come upon a stationary bear, move away slowly and sideways; this allows you to keep an eye on the bear and avoid tripping. Moving sideways is also non-threatening to bears. Do NOT run, but if the bear follows, stop and hold your ground. Like dogs, they will chase eeing animals. Do NOT climb a tree. Both griz...zlies and black bears can climb trees. Do NOT push down a slower friend (even if you think the friendship has run its course). Stay calm and remember that most bears do not want to attack you; they usually just want to be left alone. Dont we all? Identify yourself by making noise so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal. Help the bear recognize you as a human. We recommend using your voice. (Waving and showing off your opposable thumb means nothing to the bear) The bear may come closer or stand on its hind legs to get a better look or smell. A standing bear is usually curious, not threatening. Find more tips, check out https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/index.htm P.S. We apologize to any friends who were brought on a hike as the bait or were sacrificed to save the group. You will be missed. When it comes to investing, two things are for sure: markets will fluctuate and taking part in those markets involves risk. Although investing can be an emotion...al experienceyoure putting your hard-earned money in investments to meet your financial goalsits important not to let emotions rule your investment strategy. Remember that even professionals dont know for sure when prices will go up and down. Although markets inevitably dip, they also tend to recover and you want to be there when they do. Thats why its important to develop a solid plan and stick to it over the long-term. https://www.canadalife.com//dont-let-emotions-rule-your-in Debbie Lang CFP, CLU, CHS, EPC Certified Financial Planner Emma Lang QAFP, CEA - Financial Advisor Branstone Financial Strategies
What does it mean, bull and bear markets? Canada Life put out an article explaining the market cycles.
Important info from our Member of Parliament, Larry Maguire
The outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is a human tragedy for all those affected, and recent heightened concerns are spilling over into global economic and capital market concerns causing sharp drops in market values and an increase in volatility. Market corrections are uncomfortable, but we caution investors against emotional reactions that take them away from their well-balanced and risk aligned investment plans. https://www.glc-amgroup.com//what-should-investors-do-five

The tax benefits of a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) are better than you might think. Dont forget, the deadline to contribute for the 2019 tax year is March 2. http://ow.ly/jreC50ypvHs
