As we circle back to a time full of resolutions and goals at the beginning of a new year, I encourage you to really think your reason for making a goal. Things to consider when setting goals: does this goal fulfill a desire of MINE or is it being set to appease or impress others? is it attainable and specific or is it broad and likely to falter?... does it serve you well? Does it ignite something in your soul? is this goal short term or long term? will I be disappointed if I don’t reach this goal or will I be able to note progress made regardless? will others be there to support and encourage me as I work towards this? will setting these goals benefit or hinder my mental health? Is there a way I can alter these goals to positively impact mental health and avoid burn out? do I have a plan? do I have a WHY? Comment below some of the things you like to do when setting new goals. Tag a friend who’s goals you want to support! Dr. Laura

With the holidays approaching, end of year chaos at work, and winter weather arriving it’s easy to lose sight of caring for ourselves. The American Journal of Psychology has found that a self-care regimen improves mood, productivity, lowers health care costs and morbidity, and improves inter-personal relationships. Self-care can look different for everyoneno ones self-care is superior to another ... Self-care can look like: having a rest day from the gym OR making daily movement a priority having a me day at home meeting a friend for coffee setting boundaries for what work you do and bring home after hours *esp. important in this work from home lifestyle nature walk journaling doing a hobby you love sleep routine and sleep hygiene practices asking for and accepting help getting dressed up OR having a casual day setting healthy boundaries with needy family, friends, or co-workers getting adjusted Comment some of your favourite self-care practices down below to inspire one another as we approach a busy season. Did you know that Dr. Laura LOVES assessing and treating babies, toddlers and kids? She is fascinated by how much their little bodies learn, grow and develop in such a short time. the brains of babies and toddlers make up to 700 NEW neuronal connections ever 3 minutes!! this is a crucial time in their development and their nervous systems are so receptive to their environments. One of the most challenging things for our bodies is actually being born, this is why Dr. Lau...ra and Dr. Barker encourage you to bring your little ones in for a well-baby or toddler assessment so we can help in getting their nervous systems functioning to their optimal and fullest potential. It’s never too early nor too late to begin chiropractic care. At BCA we aim to treat function rather than chase pain. This is why feeling good isn’t always the best predictor in how your body and nervous system are operating. we encourage chiropractic care for young bodies building a good foundation in the spine and nervous system is so important Dr. Laura is now certified in PIPS (Paediatric Intraoral Palate Specific) Technique, she would love to chat with you more about this at your next visit!

This Thursday December 3rd is Brantford Chiropractic’s annual toy drive. Things look a bit different this year and instead of a new unwrapped toy, we are accepting gift cards for places such as: Toys R Us, Walmart, Indigo and Chapers, gaming stores etc. If you do not have a gift card the cost of your adjustment will be donated to the cause. Dr. Barker and Dr. Laura will be donating their time on Thursday to help out families in need during the holiday season and hope you’ll be a part of this special and rewarding day. *unfortunately we cannot serve the traditional hot apple cider or snacks due to the current restrictions. We hope to see your shining faces regardless!

Technique Tuesday -, (* ’ *) . Some chiropractors and patients refer to this as a gentle approach" I try an avoid this terminology because it implies other adjusting is "aggressive" your chir...opractor learns about your body, and how your body responds to certain types of adjustments, very quickly. They will use techniques that suit you and your body best. I don't like to pin one technique up against another and claim any are superior. is one of my top goals as your doctor. This means I may always favour manual adjusting, or I may favour activator adjustments (see previous post), I may use drop pieces or I may use a combination! Please always know that YOU have a say in YOUR care if you really like or don't like something in your treatment PLEASE let your practitioner know. We are here to support YOU and your preferences matter Comment below or DM me your preferences as a patient. Here, I’ll start: I really don’t like getting my mid back (thoracic spine) adjusted when I am laying face down. I prefer manual adjustments for my neck (cervical spine) because I find I get more immediate, longer-lasting relief I prefer an activator approach for treating my ribs when they’re acutely irritated everything else is fair game for me Dr. Laura #getadjusted #thompsontechnique #chiropractic #brantfordchiropractor

I’m not really much of a coffee gal myself ...blasphemy I know. But I do live for a good adjustment! Whether that’s to start my week on the right foot or set me up for a productive but relaxing weekend ahead. Much like some people don’t feel themselves before their morning coffee I don’t feel like myself without my weekly adjustment.... I’ve got some openings for new patient visits next week Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, and Friday afternoon. You’re one adjustment away from a good mood Dr. Laura #chiropracticadjustment #chiropracticcare #brantfordchiropractor #brantfordchiropractic #getadjusted
