LINE DANCING Friday night at Dance Xcetera was a STOMPtastic success. What a brilliant turn-out for our first return after Covid-19. The faces of everyone warmed our hearts as it was beyond obvious how much EVERYone missed dance and most assuredly missed one another. So much enthusiasm and the feet were kicking up a storm. Beginners LINE Dancing will start Saturday September 12th at 11:45am - 12:30pm for $5/person at the brand-new and renovated Dance Xcetera Dance Studio, located at 140 Grey Street, upstairs at the Rossini Lodge. Classes are geared specifically to beginners...and on a brand new dance floor in a beautiful studio surrounding adhering to all Covid-19 safety protocols. Masks are required while in the building but not while dancing, although you are welcome to wear them. Our "regul...ar" Line Dance Classes (Beginners & Advanced) at Central Presbyterian Hall will recommence after Thanksgiving weekend in October. Times, costs, and days will be announced very soon. Keeping everyone in the loop --- we will NOT be considering starting back to Line Dancing OR Zumba until at least after Thanksgiving Weekend in October and at that point, we are going to reassess the world Covid-19 situation and reassess our 'responsibilities' in keeping people safe and our own liability. This has been decided between the Church Elders with total and complete support from Keith and I. Please stay tuned as there may be a bit of a glimmer of 'some' sort of hope of us conducting much smaller classes at Dance Xcetera in a more formal dance studio. I'll keep you updated...

Sylvia saved line dancing today!!! Just so you know... Anyway, YES I'm taking on a new Dance Instructor position at Dance Xcetera as their Song & Dance Instructor which WILL incorporate Voice and Line Dancing but this is for the Competitive world of organized disciplined dance lessons for children and teens. WE are staying put at Central Presbyterian (pending board approval in September) and creating a safe and much needed return to the dance floor. And as long as the Covi...d-19 numbers say we can open up. HOWEVER --- if you'd like to take on SOMEthing a wee bit different and in a dance studio environment --- we ARE taking Adults in to our Song and Dance classes which will incorporate SINGING and DANCING to routines corresponding to the lyrics of the song and YES there will be lots of Line Dancing within. Brantford Line Dancing Lessons returning in September, pending approval and Ontario Covid-19 numbers deeming it safe to return. Stay tuned...

Hello Line Dancers --- with the re-opening of fitness centres and gyms in the Province this Friday July 17th, I need to let you know that we will NOT be opening up Central Presbyterian to our classes until September IF we decide to continue teaching. In order to keep everyone safe, we would have adhere to a 50 person capacity (which is doable) but we'd have to maintain the 6 feet social distancing rule and keep the two classes totally separate from one another to allow for ...safe access and exit. That means a much diminished person capacity on the gym floor AND we need to get this 100% cleared by the Board at the Church IF we all decide to go ahead with classes. I'm unsure if this would even be economically feasible ... and we also have to keep in mind that we're going to be facing a great deal of skepticism of anyone coming back, which we totally understand. I will continue through the rest of the summer giving it a great deal of thought about what I am going to do and will be sure to keep you all informed. Teaching online is not an option for me, it became way too congested on ZOOM with the freezing of the screen and the sound delays and the constant shutting down --- too much stress from our end...so it's not something I would even consider doing again. And again, even if we decided to TRY again --- this would all need to be cleared by the board (at ALL facilities) and we're just not sure we want to take that risk ... of your health and ours and those around us. We've seen a huge online attendance surge in our Zumba and Line Dance classes this week and we are being inundated with requests for the links from many sources. Thanks so much ladies & gents for a tremendous evening last night at Line Dance! Such a fabulous turnout and so much fun. I’ve had some feedback about Waltzes. While I love watching Waltz and doing the odd one I’ve found my particular group wants to Boogie! That being said I’ll be happy to add a new one but rest assured I will hear they are too slow!! My main objective is to give you dance routines you can easily perform to any song while at a function or bar or party an...d easy to remember and fun to impress your friends & have them join in. What we teach should apply to any song at a buck & doe or dance night! I’ve also had questions about Monday night line dance at 6pm. We will consider that in March! Please also consider checking out the 7pm class if you find you are needing more of a challenge and quicker paced class. And YES we do Waltz.

YIPPEE --- YEE HAW & WAIPA!!! After a very exhaustive albeit FITabulous search for a new home for both Zumba and Line Dancing we have finally found the IDEAL location with a very large-sized hall, all tile floor, with a massive stage for me to instruct from and an impressively spacious dance floor. It's freaking MINT --- my eyes popped out. As of NEXT week, Joan Minnery Enterprises --- Motivation, Movement and Music officially moves to Central Presbyterian Church Hall, 97 W...ellington Street, corner of Wellington & George. We are THRILLED. When both Keith and I waltzed in we KNEW we had found IT --- the new home for dance and one which will house our increasingly growing dance family and foster our FITastic legacy. We THANK the folks at the Airforce Club and Tranquility Residence for gracing us with their auditoriums while we tested out various floors throughout town and tried to find a spot that best called out "HERE." We are very grateful. We are confident we've found our new forever home!!! LINE DANCERS --- TOMORROW --- classes will be at the Airforce Club but as of next week, we dance on our new floor and begin our new journey towards the Art of Movement!!! LINE DANCERS!!! We are testing out a new facility and dance floor tonight from 6pm - 8pm. We will be at the Airforce Club, 144 Grey Street. That's the hall right next to the Beer Store and Rossini Lodge. 6pm - Beginners. 7pm - Advanced. $3/person. $5/Combo.... Now in our 8th consecutive year and 26 years of teaching line dancing in town --- and we're still packing them in, busier than ever!!!

I began line dancing in January 1994 and began teaching that same year. With the Cham video dances, the schools, the TV programs and the years of classes, I've probably taught about 5000 people how to line dance. I can't fathom how many Boot Scootin' Boogies or Tush Pushes I've done and heaven knows there's just an infinite number of Electric Slides. You'd think I'd get bored. You'd think I'd just want to go PFFT, if I vine one more time --- but I don't. I've choreographed ab...out 80 of my own dances and my repertoire for dances that I know is in to the several 100s. There's ones I love, ones I'd rather never do again and then there's the ones that just get in there and never leave. Same goes for my students. THIS month, we've seen one helluv resurgence of Line Dance Students. Our classes are literally bursting...so much we've had to find a new hall. We just don't have enough room. And I've been inundated with emails and FB messages for women and men wanting to dance. They've been coming for 26 years...and they are still coming... TONIGHT -- was one of the funniest and most pee-your-pants-laughter-induced nights in a long STOMPtastic history of teaching. Our advanced class (mainly our dance team) was just in absolute hysteria over the new contra line. Naturally, we spruced things up a LOT and that's where the insanity ensued and we have people running to the bathroom. Mind you, we GOT the job done. And the new advanced dance, one helluva challenge but holy frijoles when we perform that, we'll be turning a LOT of heads. Thanks ladies and our brave 3 gents!!! I love what I do because the people in our classes LOVE that they are doing. See y'all next week...at our new home!!!

Well if last night taught me anything - it’s that our Youth LOVE to move, appreciate music and definitely stomp it to the sky and assuredly that LINE DANCING is alive & well in Brantord & Brant County. And our future generation is MINT!!! Young wee ones decked out in Western Attire, Grade 7s & 8s and MANY boys rocking it out in the gym WITH their parents & teachers and every face SMILING!!! We had 2 classes and totally packed the gym for the later class .... combined about 1...00 folks Boot Scooting and Tush Pushing & heck we even did a contra partner dance!!! STOMPtastic!!! Kids & Adults dancing together and lots of happy sounds and hoots and conversation!!! Brantford Proud!!!

In honour of Elvis’ Birthday we are doing a very special Elvis Salute at Bucks Country Bar this evening for Line Dancing Lessons from 6pm - 7:30pm!!! We will be shaking things up on the dance floor!!! Everyone invited!!!

LINE DANCERS!!! -- Regrettably due to a flu bug at building where we dance, we cannot use the hall Wednesday night. I am looking for an alternative location --- so if ANYone had a dance floor, or available space for 2 hours TOMORROW --- please PM me ASAP. We 'hope' to be back to dancing next Wednesday January 15th. I'll keep EVERYone apprised as to what's going on. We kinda knew this was a risk with using a residence but....well, it's a but. Although not in ANY way shape or form the finale of our Dance Lessons --- tonight IS the Grand Finale of our time at St. Basil's Parish Hall, where we've been for the last 8 years. After such a long tenure in one spot and a great deal of money raised for the CWL with both DANCE and our Zumba classes; it is quite bittersweet to be leaving our dance home --- and ponder the many STOMPtastic memories we have all created within that room, on the floor and our MANY shows and travel...s across Ontario and of course our Legendary trips to Ft. Wayne Indiana and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN. Tonight, the Waisltiners close the door, take a sigh of happiness and move forward to a new home, a new location and a total new direction.... our MOJO in indeed in MOTION. See EVERYone at 6pm for our last class and our annual Christmas Pot Luck. STOMPtastic YEE HAW!!!!
