Single Leg Seated Squat Jumps Caution ** To perform this movement, you need above average single leg balance and stability, as well as significant strength in the glute medius mucle This movement relies on force production. When seated, it limits your ability to absorb force, and relies predominantly on your muscles to generate force. ... A great exercise to help maintain lower extremity strength and power from the comfort of your own home. To perform: Find a chair or bench (the lower the chair, the harder the exercise will be). Stand on one leg with your other leg bent at the knees. You can have your arms extended for balance, or used to mimic a jumping motion Keep your weight centered over the ball of your foot, your upper body erect, and your head facing forward. Lower to a squat position, keeping the knee of the supporting leg centered over the ball of the foot. Squeeze the glutes and hamstring to stop the descent, then imagine pushing the standing leg through the floor to press back up to standing.
