We have also had great success with a slight variation on this technique at Breastfeeding Solutions.

Great advice. Note the yellow triangle at the botton. When silicon suction pumps first came out we thought they were great but over time we have seen a lot of foremilk hindmilk imbalance and oversupply in Moms using them.

This is something we commonly help with at Breastfeeding Solutions. Especially first time parents may need a littl extra help supporting their wee one. Some good tips.

Lovely example of what a little help can do. Great pointers on assessing the latch.

You may have heard this story before. A powerful reminder about what we see around us.

CAUTION is the best word here. In my Breastfeeding Medicine practice I am seeing a lot of poor weight gain associated with these practices lately. These parenting philosophies don't always cause supply problems but they can and should be used with caution especially in infants under 3 months.

A great little tip. We often find at our clinic, this little adjustment is a big help. Just remember every breastfeeding journey is unique, if baby is thriving and breastfeeding/chestfeeding is comfortable, doesn't matter what your latch looks like.

What do newborn babies and pirates have in common? They both follow the map to get to the gold. Its not a joke, it’s biology. In pregnancy many mums notice t...hat they develop a dark line extending down their stomach coupled with darkening and sometimes enlarged areola. When the baby is born they cannot yet see particularly well but they do perceive contrasts in colour as well as familiar smells. They are able to ‘follow’ the line called the linea nigra upwards to the target, the areola (which smells of amniotic fluid) like an X marks the spot. A map etched into your skin. There they find the gold; the liquid gold. Colostrum is the first milk a mother produces and is called liquid gold because of its golden colour (in many cases) and because of how valuable it is. Each teaspoon of colostrum contains more than 3 million germ killing cells. There you are, me hearties. Shiver me timbers!

There have been lots of questions about the new Covid Vaccine, particularly for healthcare workers who are breastfeeding. Hope this is helpful.
