A quiet place in the wind. Mindfulness can feel like an effort indoors, trying not to get pulled put of the present by the clamor of busy thoughts. But camping by Lewes Lake with sunset colours, paddleboards, the sound of gentle waves and the call of the loons, with a few good friends, it's difficult to imagine any other state than harmony and contentment. #yogainnature #garudasana #meditationinnature #mindfulness #yoga #contentment #simplelife

Sensual summer We get only a handful of playful days up here in the Yukon where we're free to go completely barefoot and enjoy warm water So grateful for the feeling of lake water on my skin, warm sun on my face, the scent of flowers and sage in the air and rad friends to enjoy it with
I still fall in and out of this mentality from time to time! Thinking that I need to "perform" my practice in order to be happy, if I check all the boxes I will have a fulfilling life. Loving this reminder that the practice is the destination as well as the vehicle <3
Sustainability is on my mind these days - both in my yoga practice and in how I relate to my surroundings I've had to remind myself not to be impatient with my practice when it's not what it used to be before COVID. I want a practice that lasts a lifetime and means different things to me at different parts of my life Right now it's all about appreciating the wild places that feel like home, and the health of my body that allows me to move freely around this landscape ... Each day my meditation is to make those little choices that are less wasteful and less exploiting of the earth. The more I pay attention, the more I realize there are ways I can simplify and be more conscious of my footprint. U S T R A S A N A strength + surrender + trust Backbends require a lot of core strength to let the heart space safely open. With the weight of the head leaning back and the hands reaching to feet that we can't see, ustrasana is a vulnerable position. For a long time I felt a pinch in my low back during backbends. My teacher in India said to just stop doing this pose if it's painful. ... Thankfully I've had teachers since then who have helped me understand how to keep my core engaged, my pelvis rotated and my sternum extending upward to make this pose enjoyable, freeing and light. Muscling though the pain, or avoiding it all together would never have let me grow in my practice. It takes time and commitment to build trust in yourself, and strength to let yourself be vulnerable and flexible. Lunar Monday my favorite practice - or the one I need the most Moving slowly and gently though a practice normally feels like an act of defiance against my otherwise rushed schedule. Today though, it almost feels like a new normal. One of the hidden gifts of the pandemic for me has been embrace simplicity in my day, and have more time to reflect and cultivate patience ... This pose requires balance, strength, flexibility and concentration. If I rush it, I will tip over to the side. If I become distracted, I will lose alignment and feel compression in my lower back. If I push to try and conquer the pose, my body will become tense and the feeling of expanding and relaxing will be lost. My perfect challenge to find embodied peace for a Monday evening #lunaryoga #yogapractice #patience #adhomukhasvanasana #downwarddogvariation
