With a steep decline in showings across Alberta between December 20th to the 27th, it has quickly rebounded coming into the New Year. The showing activity declined close to the same levels experienced during the same time period in 2019, but have rebounded much quicker than last year too. Our listings at CIR Realty experienced similar trends as the rest of Alberta, with 552 showings the week of December 22nd to the 28th, and 972 showings from the 29th to January 4th! The ...showing activity has increased across all of the price ranges, with the largest increases being seen in the starter to mid price points under $600,000. Theshowings have been translating into early sales activity for 2021, with 30% higher sales activity across Alberta through the first six days of the year. we are thrilled to see that CIR picked up where we left off in December, and continue to out pace the market as we are seeing an increase of over 40% compared to the same time periods. The Alberta government mandated that professional services businesses, such as lawyers and accountants, be able to work by appointment only. Therefore, AREA is reinstituting a ban on all in-person open houses for REALTORS as professional service providers. The weekly showing activity has remained relatively busy across the Province, with slight variations in the activity week over week. The total showing activity was up 128.5% over the same time last year. The showing activity on CIR Realty's listings declined slightly week over week, dropping to 1,282 showings. While most price ranges remained relatively stable, the biggest drop in activity was in the mid markets. The sales activity across the Province for the first three ...weeks of the month was up over 32% compared to the same time last year, while CIR's sales activity was up over 40%. With the recent increased restrictions in Alberta, there could be further slow downs,although showings are still permitted on an appointment only basis. It will remain to be seen if the restrictions will impose a greater slow down than what we anticipate to see due to the different seasons.
