If you’re self-employed, you might be wondering if it’s still possible to get a mortgage, and the answer is yes of course! While big banks generally prefer salaried, full-time income to qualify you for a mortgage, mortgage brokers like myself are experts in dealing with all kinds of scenarios and unique financing options. If you end up in a tight spot, there’s always co-signers and alternative lenders, all of which are things I can consult you on if you’re self-employed and l...ooking for some direction about mortgages. Let’s chat!
Conventional Mortgage vs. High Ratio Mortgage - what’s the diff? Have you ever seen these two terms and been a bit confused about what the difference is? A conventional mortgage is a loan for no more than 80% of the purchase price (or appraised value) of the property. The remaining amount required for a purchase (20%) comes from your resources and is referred to as the down payment.... If you have to borrow more than 80% of the money you need, you’ll be applying for what is called a high-ratio mortgage. The maximum property value for high ratio insurance must be less than $1,000,000. Considering a home purchase in the near future? I would be happy to discuss your options and the best possible mortgage to meet your specific needs and numbers. Let’s chat! All eyes will be on the August employment report released Friday, September 10th. The Bank of Canada will likely continue to proceed cautiously. Another tapering of the bond-buying program will come under scrutiny, and forward guidance will continue to suggest no rate hikes until the second half of next year. See more
