Our recommendation is to use Alaskan Premium Ice Melt which can be found at Roma, HH, Canadian Tire and Home Depot . Please do NOT use SALT ... Why? 1 Salt crystal will eat into surface leaving a mark and damaging the pavers. 2 Salt will damage the surface of the stones causing it to flake off and will cause discolouration with a result looking like the surface was bleached. 3 The salty water that runs off the surface it can accumulate in the soil and damage plant roots. 4 If you are an animal lover like we are, rock salt can irritate the paws of our four-legged friends and can be harmful if indigested by pets. .
