Our last Careers Day speaker reveal to share is Taichi Yoneya and we want to give him an extra special shout out he will be Zooming in to Careers Day at 1:30a...m Hong Kong time, when most of us would be fast asleep! With over 16 years of experience in investment management and equity research, Taichi is a Partner at EastBay Capital, a hedge fund focused on investing in the technology and consumer sectors in Japan/Asia. Prior to this, he was a Japanese equity analyst at Duquesne Capital and Owl Creek Asset Management, and an Internet sector analyst at Fidelity International. On the sell-side, he was an equity analyst covering the Industrial Electronics, Semiconductors, and Wire & Cable sectors at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Visual Arts and Public & Private Sector Organizations from Brown University. We are so grateful to Taichi for committing to giving back on Careers Day, despite being many time zones away. Michelle Mazzarella is yet another amazing Old Brentonian participating in our virtual Careers Day on March 6th. After leaving Brentwood, Michelle completed two... Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Dance from UCLA, while actively working as a dancer and choreographer in the LA area. Fast forward to today and Michelle is now in the middle of the three year ProTrack Program at the New England Center for Circus Arts, where she specializes in Aerial Fabric, Invented Apparatus, Cyr Wheel, and Flying Trapeze. She also studies juggling, tumbling, trampoline, partner acrobatics, hand balancing, physical theatre, act creation, and more. She continues to work as a dancer, aerial coach, and choreographer and hopes to work for a circus or entertainment company in the near future. Just a few days to go until our virtual Careers Day! Our next speaker reveal is Grant Fredericks who is a leading expert in forensic video technology and the fo...under of Forensic Video Solutions Inc. With a degree in Broadcast Engineering and a career in both TV reporting and policing under his belt, Grant began teaching video forensics at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA in 1998 and continues to this day as a contract instructor. Grant has provided technical forensic video consulting for some of the most high-profile cases in the US and Canada, including the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot investigation and now with the Capitol Insurrection investigation. In 2001, Grant received an award from the FBI in recognition of his assistance in processing video evidence of the 9/11 hi-jackers who made their way through various airports on the morning of September 11 of that year. The rest, some of whom are still in lockdown in their respective countries, will be joining in virtually. As you can imagine, it’s a very strange and somewhat disappointing graduation year for Grade 12 students everywhere. So we're asking you, our wonderful alumni, to help us make their graduation a lit...tle more special! Dear Brentwood Family, It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Mr. Steve Wynne Brentwood faculty member from 1973-2000 on May 9 at the age of 82. He leaves behind his loving wife, June, children, Michael (Ellis '81), Alison (Mack '87) and Andrea (Alex '91), and his five grandchildren (Kayley, Ryan, Olivia, Finn and Seth). His family reports that after years of struggling with cancer, he passed away peacefully at home and with no regrets. A teacher of Ge...ography, English, and Law, he was also an active and energetic coach of rugby, track and field, cross country and field hockey. Steve’s 27 years of service to the School also included nine years as houseparent of Ellis House, along with his wife June, and the founding of the Brentwood chapter of the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. For Steve, Brentwood was a "rewarding and exhilarating experience". A few months ago, we held a video interview with Steve. It reminds us of the positive, upbeat, and loyal Brentonian that he will always be. We hope you enjoy this small clip from that interview. We have lowered the campus flags to half-mast and will observe a moment of silence during this Thursday’s online assembly with our students and staff. Given the unusual circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, details about a celebration of life will be forthcoming. In the meantime, please join in our support for his family.
